Are you as interested in all the little details for your mid century home as I am? How about these plastic, crystal-cut hangers for your clothes closet? I’ve picked up many of these at estate sales, and I’m sure they have been around a long time. But, you can also still buy them new, and at reasonable prices. A four-pack of dress or shirt hangers is just $1.99, while two suit hangers with clips (like above) go for $2.29 at acehardwareoutlets.. Shop around online – I’ve also seen them in large packs that bring the unit prices down further.

I received the hangers as promised. They’re big, strong hangers. Shipping was very reasonable, (about $8) but yes, if I could have found them at Target I would have gotten them there. I might check Target for more. Still, I’m very glad to have them – thanks for the lead!

I saw some of these plastic crystal hangers at Target in a package of 6 for $3.99. They are not on the website, of course, but I did indeed see them @ my local store – both the dress hangers and the suit hangers!

San Diego Amy, thanks for the tip!

Pam, I’m afraid those cute little hangers are long gone! I was born in 1954 and they dated from then; I’m sure in our many moves over the years, my mom got rid of them (along with my many Barbies, waaah!).

I love these! I already have a few – the ones I’ve been lucky enough to find 2 at a g-sale, 2 at a thrift. Since you posted this I went to the site and bought 4 doz., and a doz. of the suit type. I’m so glad you posted this! The other thing is that if you look for them at the regular Ace Hardware online store they cost 2 1/2 times as much. This is an outlet out of New York and the price is MUCH better. Thanks again for posting!

Femme1 – My mom found some of these in her travels and gave them to me. There are all baby-sized – some are panted wood (blue and pink) with dogs and cats on them. Another set are pink and yellow plastic with bunnies… Hmmm, maybe this is a hint that she’s ready for some grandkids!

Femme1 and Glamorlux – can you send me pics of these hangers? I’d love to feature them so that we can all be on the lookout. Hey, do I smell a new 2009 obsession? Yup!

When I was a kid, we had little pink and blue plastic hangers (kid size) with cut-outs of circus clowns, seals, and elephants. Has anyone ever come across those in thrift shops or estate sales?

YES! It’s all I have! I worked at a vintage store and the owner only used vintage plastic hangers. I soon found my own. It’s taken almost 8 years but I finally have a vintage hanger for everything in my tiny, crowded, vintage closet.

Tera – how cool! Aren’t the fun! Thanks for the vote of confidence in this reco!
