I couldn’t resist pointing out that they “stand behind each and every door they make so you can be assured it will last and perform…”
I appreciate that, but once installed, I’d prefer they step aside lest me or my guests bump into them.

Yo, Pam and Kate,
Any source for knobs for the center of a door? My uncle had a front door with a knob in the middle which featured a starburst… whattayacallit… back plate? Anyway, his house was built sometime in the ’50s, and I always thought the knob in the middle was cool.

We love our Rouge Valley Door — we live in a 1951 ranch and replaced our front door in 2009 and used their pattern 1505 with reeded glass.
Since we are in Orlando, we had to special order it through a local lumber yard, but the trim guy that hung it said it was the best and easiest door he had ever had to deal with.

Thanks for posting this. I do like those diamond shape windows! I noticed another Oregon-based company, Jeld-Wen, has a few mid-century type doors in their custom catalog (but no diamond windows).
Gerry says
I checked the Jeld-Wen site and found a smooth front fiberglass door with the option of 1 diamond window. I need something like this to replace the embarrassing country style door with u*** [edited] glass insert currently on my 1968 ranch. I didn’t find a model number for the door but here is the product name: Smooth-Pro Fiberglass Glass Panel Exterior Door – Top View Diamond Flush. There is also a Top View Square Flush. A nice option for those of us who don’t want to be on display too much and want a flat front door.

I wish I had known about this option when we replaced our door…I grew up in the Rogue Valley (and my husband is from Grants Pass!) I’m happy to see a business from that area being promoted on Retro Renovation. I’ll be sure to recommend them!

Another source for solidly built, mid century style doors! Cool! I used to live in a mid century house (built in 1956) and it had that same door with the three diamond windows. It also had a diamond shaped doorknob backplate!
