Are you on the lookout for midcentury modern fabric — vintage NOS even better — in enough yardage to make draperies? Well, just this morning Pam discovered an ebay seller who has large rolls of NOS fabric available — in five gorgeous printed designs, including some with gold printing detail. Prices are very reasonable, too. Hop to this, peeples!
From the Ebay listing:
I am trying to explain how beautiful this fabric is because I can understand how there might be hesitation because you cannot feel it in your hands. It is luscious, substantial, silky, and never touched. I have never come across such fabric before, and I wish I could keep it all myself, alas I cannot.
I made draperies for my home simply by folding over the top and sewing a straight line so a rod could be put in, and hemming the bottom with a quick press and seam. I even left the selvages out because they are even beautiful. Don’t pass this up.
Absolutely beautiful!!! Excellent condition drapery fabric.
48 inches wide.
This fabric is still on the original bolt, never been used, but it is Old stock
Continuous yardage.
Shipping will be based on how many yards purchased. please contact with questions.
The color ways available are awesome — we particularly love the orange, green, gold and brown pattern above with the painterly geometric design.
The seller appears to have two different color ways of this fabric design available — the above gold, black brown and orange…
And a gold, black, blue and lavender version too.
There’s also a lovely blue, black and green asian inspired geometric design.
We love the slubby, silky fabric texture.
My personal favorite is the seller’s flower power fabric. The large, bright pink, red, gold, green and black flowers and leaves in this pattern would make any room feel instantly cheerier, don’t you think?
The fabric is being sold for $17.99 per yard — not super cheap, but we challenge you to find quality fabric with patterns and colors like this for less.

I was really excited when I found this, but now the link is dead and the seller can’t be found.
Anyone know where else to find fabric like this?
Thanks!

Just as an FYI…..I bought 6 yds of the blue/black/gold Asian inspired print and found discolored areas throughout. The seller explained that this was from the original screen print process, but it was not mentioned in the description. If using it for your own home it might not bother you, but for my purpose it won’t work.

Thanks for the info!

Thank you! Thank you! I just bought the aqua/blue/gold with the bamboo leaves. I’ve been searching for months for just the right fabric for a window treatment. It is even more stunning and luxurious in person.

ooooooh, I am jealous! Please do send us photos when you have the window treatment in place, I can’t wait!

Great find. I’m more of blinds kind of guy but if I was in the market for fabric that first print is pretty spectacular.

that pink and yellow print reminds me of a groovy clipboard I had in the 3rd grade!!. that would be a beautiful shower curtain.

I have yards of the floral, but in purple. Just waiting in my closet for something special.

Fabulous! My mind is racing trying to think of where I might use this. But, a word of caution! This fabric is only 48″ wide. You will have to carefully match the pattern to get the width for drapery panels, not to mention the take up of the side hems. So you will need extra yardage.
As a general rule, side hems are 2″ doubled, sometimes 1.5″ doubled. So, on each 48″ piece, you loose 6-8″ right away, leaving a 40-42″ flat panel. Usually, a shirr on drape is at least 2x the width of the window. So, measure, measure, measure before you order! You can always make a pillow with the extra.

I saw the exact same semi-abstract tiled perspective with trees fabric in pictures 3, 4, 5 and 6 in one of my favorite book on fifties design. The book is Fifties Design Then and Now by Richard Horn, published by Penguin in 1985. On page 96, Horn says of this fabric “In this “allegorical” fabric, Nature/Representation (the tree) and Civilization/Abstraction (the rigidly rectilinear Modern style perspective lines) enjoy a uniquely peaceful co-existence.” Deep, No?
pam kueber says
Yup! Deep!

Thanks for sharing that book info!

I have no need for this but I want it. Bad. The first one and the Asian inspired one. I’ll find a use . . .
