In great big news — literally 48″ great big wide — the retro kitchen appliance company Big Chill this week has introduced a 48″ retro range, the first of its kind in the market in the U.S. as far as I know. This is a big addition to Big Chill’s lineup of retro ranges — also available in 30″ and 36″ models — and a new option for homeowners who want the kind of extra cooking space that up until now has only been available in contemporary-style ranges.
“The Retro Collection is the line that started it for Big Chill and put vintage-style appliances on the map for the consumer market,” comments Big Chill President, Hillary Frei. “Expanding on the size of this throwback-inspired collection is both a celebration of our roots and simultaneously demonstrates our ability to listen to client preferences and needs.”
Retro kitchen ranges available in 7 standard retro colors
Like its other models, these new ranges come in seven standard retro colors — Beach Blue, Cherry Red, Jadeite Green, Buttercup Yellow, Turquoise, Pink Lemonade, and White. There are also two premium colors, and I count 186 custom colors.
The Big Chill website describes the ranges:
Our largest Retro range has all the functionality of a modern appliance with vintage design and color. This unit has 8 burners: one 21K, three 15K, three 10K and one simmer. It comes with two ovens, the larger will accommodate a full-sized commercial 18“ x 26” baking sheet… The full motion grates let you slide pots and pans from front to rear burners without lifting them.

Big news in kitchen ranges! Thank you, Big Chill, for all the images!
