The Little Red Plane – knitted video by Charlotte Blacker / Made of Wool

pam kueber - Updated: April 22, 2019

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

This video has me in AWE. It’s stop-motion video made by Charlotte BlackerĀ — with all the frames apparently hand-knitted by Charlotte, along with Vanessa Townley, Holly Blacker, Linda Blacker and Joyce Bull. Now this is TALENT beyond my wildest dreams! Spotted via Craft

    Hi all at retrorenovation

Thank you for letting your viewers know about Charlotte Blacker (UK) work in the past (little red plane and stompy the bear) – She really appreciates it.

Just thought you’d like to know she has been helping out at the Seattle children’s film festival with animation workshops for youngsters which also includes the Hospital there and is currently moving between the Seattle and Vancouver festivals where her films are showing in the meantime.

Casper Babypants has also just released Charlotte’s new video for his new song ‘Too dirty for love’.

Here is the links for some pictures of the workshops and also the new video.

    Hope you like them.

I love a good cartoon, never seen a knitted one before that was great

Thank you for sharing! I’m sitting here in front of my computer after a long, active, full day of running errands, and washing and waxing the car and I’m beat, this was an excellent way to wind it down!

Wow! These women are so creative. The video is so sweet. And I can barely crochet.

Wow! What a combination of talent and creativity. When the red plane becomes a rocket and goes into outer space, this sure is a metaphor for what they have done for crafting and the art of knitting — took it to an incredible new level.

That is so cute! I love it when people use their imagination like that! More power to them.
