DIY photo booth — easy, affordable vintage fun for your next party

pam kueber - Updated: August 18, 2020

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

DIY photo boothI have been on a Betty Crafter binge lately — this lassie is talented! Most recently, I showed her new crewel needlework kit… this got me all ogling her blog, where I discovered she had recently posted photos of this fabulous DIY photo booth made for a birthday party.

vintage photo boothI love it — so easy, so fun. And so mid century modest — what with the paneling and all. Maybe to this to create your own family holiday card, even? Betty Crafter shows off other birthday party ideas in this story on her blog as well <— hop on over to read more about her DIY photo booth and to see her other, wonderful ideas to bring some wacky vintage flair to your next party.

The “fake wall” has to be the most charming thing ever! This would be great for something like a wedding reception, too. I couldn’t help but spy the saguaro paint-by-number in the TV! I have that same one and a couple other desert-inspired p-b-#s. Lovely!

I agree! I was thinking about this the whole time I was walking my dog today! That Betty Crafter!

How much fun is that! I love this idea and will definitely check out that blog. I’m always on the look out for fun party ideas, especially for kids. I love the paneling and the old-school TV set. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the shout out Pam! And Nancy, if you start hunting for hideous Christmas sweaters and blow molds now, you should have enough to create the world’s most awesomely tacky Kitschmas vignette!
