Update Tuesday morning: I’ve picked a winner, but I’ll leave Comments open in case more folks want to pipe in with ideas for me to work on… Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions, I’ll see what I can do! Stacy was the April winner of our monthly “Love the House You’re In” custom collage made by Mel Kolstad. Another beautiful collage, Mel. Woof! Meow! Readers — this month’s contest will end on Tuesday morning just as soon as I get to my computer, so click on through for this month’s question — and you could win a piece of artwork commemorating your own little castle. Jeez, I need to win my own contest and get one of my house!

Look at Stacy’s beautiful house! When I was re-creating it for her in the collage, I could almost hear the birds singing and those peaceful “woods sounds”. Her house just feels like one of those homes that would be so comfortable and relaxing on a warm spring day, hanging out on the rooftop terrace.
Thank you, Mel. You can experience more of Mel’s world at her blog: Ephemeraology

Another incredible collage, Mel! I will always treasure the one you made for me last year.
Would love help with outdoor mid-century styling; i.e., porches (screened and un-screened), decks, patios, and landscaping.

Oh my, I cannot believe how beautifully Mel captured that dog’s expression. I love seeing all of these gorgeous collages every month.
Before I say what I would love to see more of, I have to say how much I have learned from all of the discussions and posts on your site, and how much I love this site, Pam. So incredibly helpful as I forge through a kitchen remodel. That said, I would love to see more information about the different styles of architecture, especially earlier mid-century (40s). The earlier model style homes — Arts & Crafts, Victorian — are easy to identify, but I still wonder what exactly my 1939 home is. There are quite a few very modest homes from the 40s and 50s in my town that I would love to know more about.
But thank you for all the info you DO post, with such regularity and such dedication to historical accuracy.

My favorite items for the blog are:
More upload posts – loved the one where readers could upload their coach, front doors, and always love the uploads of weekend “finds”.
I also love the stories of readers’ renovations and renovation journeys.
Last request:
More posts on the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. The 20’s and 30’s aren’t exactly MCM, but the 40’s are, and I lean more toward 20’s to 50’s vs. 40’s thru 70’s. Thanks for all you do Pam!

Built-in cabinets and bookshelves.
Would love to read more about them, this site has given me so many great ideas and so much inspiration.

I currently don’t have a patio and want to put one in. I would love to read more about mid century patios and outdoor living in general.
