Okay, I am crazy overloaded what with all the activity in the house. So here is an easy, fun, mid-day story. I get lots of emails from readers suggesting I talk about this old movie or that old movie with great interiors. One day I will start a series. But meanwhile, no one has ever sent me this suggestion. I watched this movie — my late night in the man cave screen shot above — over the weekend. Absolutely hilarious. And fabulous 1970s interiors and costumes. Can I stump you? Surely not. Who can guess?

Throw us a life line, Pam. Was the movie made in the 1970’s or does it take place in the 1970’s?
This is fun!

It’s based in the 70s, but made more recently…

Thank you it’s a gift, or having no life. Yes, I agree it is so funny! I’ve seen it a few times. Love the green vase and Michelle Williams character’s apartment is great.

Agreed — Teri Garr on that couch, always hysterical.

In the movie and TV world, there is much more wallpaper than in the real world. I think cinematographers, directors, and set decorators like it because it solves a problem portraying the depth (in your photo, if all the walls were a single painted color, you would not be able to see the difference between foreground and background walls).
Additionally, wallpaper is a great way to show character. Next time you watch a sitcom, note the wallpaper. Sometimes the wallpaper almost becomes a character, too.

I heart wallpaper!

It’s not Dick is it? With Michelle Williams?

ding ding ding, YES, you are the winner, Trina, that was pretty fast, too! Dick — starring Michelle Williams and Kirsten Dunst — HILARIOUS! It’s not on Netflix streaming but was on Cinema Now — definitely worth the $2.99 or whatever.

(I don’t like my answer now, but it really looks like Mia Farrow)

Hi Pam;
You got me. Now I need to know so I can watch also. Just watched “Lullabye on Broadway” last night and there was a “servents” kitchen done in tourquoise with yellow canisters. The star was Doris Day.
Have a good day.
