Update: Congrats to winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!
So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions
I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!
In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:
Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

Nothing like a shiny Christmas ornament to cheer up a house!

Wow! What a beautiful reminder of when I was a kid! My mother had ornaments like this all over the tree and sadly only a few were left after she and my dad passed away. On a happier note – I love looking at your site because I grew up in a house in the 50’s and our kitchen and bathroom looked just like these! Pink and green tile, long living room with lots of picture windowns, old but cool appliances. My husband and I wish we could go back to these days, which seemed a slower and more gentle time. Ah nostalgia….

This is exactly the type of thing that makes me want to go to flea markets and boot sales and hunt through boxes of musty things!!
Winning this wreath would cut out that middle man. 😉
Love this site so much!! <3

I LOVE Christmas!! Every year I put up 6 full size trees in our 50’s mod ranch. Yes, I even have a silver aluminum tree with vintage ornaments. I adore this wreath and it would be such a thrill to show off this wonderful piece of art.

I love that Shiny Shiny-Brite wreath so much! I have only about 4 of the vintage ornaments from when I was a kid, but I would love to incorporate them into a vintagey wreath if I’m not lucky enough to win one. Crossing my fingers that my number is picked…sure would be cool on my 1910 home! Thanks, Pam and Suzy.
