Update: Congrats to winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!
So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions
I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!
In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:
Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

The ornaments in this remind me of the ones we had when I was a child. Too much trouble to put up a tree but it wouldn’t to hang up this wreath!

My daughter’s house was built in 1951 and just screams for this style of decorating. Can’t wait to see every blog to get new ideas.

What a great wreath, I’ve always loved older Christmas ornaments, but you can only put so many on a tree, or in a bowl . . . now, with the wreath idea, I have a reason to collect more ornaments (like I really needed a reason!)

i’m not a fan of Christmas because of the avalanche of plastic crap that seems to come with it.. but I may now love the holiday if only I had this to display!

I actually bought one a few years ago and LOVE it! But I’m thinking I “need” another. 🙂
