shiny-brite-holiday-wreathe-georgia-peachezUpdate: Congrats to  winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!

So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. YUP: One week contest now “live” to Win this Wreath. Click on through for the rules and to enter ->

How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions

I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!

In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:

Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

Happy comment? Working on a vintage pink bathroom that was remuddled, trying to figure out what to keep and what to let go. Fun and terrifying.

Wreath is gorgeous. Here is my happy news for the month. I have a vintage pink & aqua bathroom in my 1955 house, which I’m preserving and cherish. But I also had a mundane guest bathroom in the 1960s addition side of the house, which I just had painted glorious shade of raspberry and soft pink. Color is good!

I make wreaths similar to this one at Christmas. It’s fun searching for vintage ornaments like the ones we had back in the 1950s!
