Sarah and Steve’s easy breezy pink and black bathroom refresh

pam kueber - May 23, 2014, Updated: November 4, 2020

pink black bathroomWe’ve been selling our “I Saved a Pink Bathroom” raglan tees for several months now — and we now have our first photo of a reader proudly showing the whole story. Steve gets “Great Husband Award” for surprising Sarah with a shirt right after they completed their pink bathroom refresh.

Hi there!

Here are a few pics of my proud wife Sarah showing off the Pink Bathroom we saved in Pennsylvania. We had some floor problems and a few other minor issues, so we were at the point we needed to do something. Instead of a total remodel, we decided to ’embrace the pink’ ! We chose the retro look of black and white to complement the pink. A new floor, some molding, paint, a few accessories (shower curtain, towels, the Marilyn Monroe tin sign, and a working atomic era scale we found on ebay) really pulled the room together. What do you think? We like it a lot!

As soon as we were done, I gave my wife a present… an “I Saved a Pink Bathroom” t-shirt that I ordered from you guys a week before. She was elated! It’s her favorite shirt now!

That’s Sarah in the photos!

Sincerely,
Sarah and Steve

Thanks, Steve and Sarah — very nicely done indeed!

Love the bathroom! Pink, black, and white is one of my favorite color combos and the space looks so clean and pretty. What a great sink, among other features.

Sarah’s shoes are beyond and the scale is a unique treasure. And, yes indeed, you get the best and most thoughtful husband award. How nice are you? We need to have you cloned!

Looks great..and that scale is awesome. That’s the great thing about vintage utilitarian items – the designs are so cool..they can stand alone as a great piece even if they no longer function. Nowadays everything is so bland & boring and when it breaks into the landfill it goes. P.S. Your wife’s shoes are very cool, too.

The really cool part is that it DOES actually work!

Outstanding! Another pink bathroom saved! I also have a pink, black and white bathroom, but what I don’t have is the shirt or the fabulous shoes Sarah is wearing. Love your bathroom!!

Kudos for the redo! Black and white are the perfect complement for the pink and black tile, and your scale is the perfect accessory. Lovely photos of both Sarah and the bath. Is that a black radiator cover she is sitting on?

Yep. It was off-white, I sanded about four layers of old paint off and painted it gloss black. I might have lead poisoning now but it was worth it. Ha Ha!

    Sarah & Steve,

Love the “embrace the pink” update you did to that adorable bathroom! Pink, black and white is classic—my own pink bathroom (also here in PA) is done in those colors (and I painted the walls pearl gray above the pink tile). We have a tin sign (and a lot of other photos) with Elvis, but Marilyn Monroe works, too!

Congratulations on a great “new” space—it looks fun, retro and SAVED!! I’d say Sarah earned that T-shirt!
