It’s Pam’s Pity Party, and you’re invited: Caption contest!

Kate - Updated: November 11, 2020

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

Pam-broken-armCROPTime for an impromptu caption contest. It was an exciting weekend at Pam’s house…

A broken arm and wrist — in like five places, the word “shattered” was used.

Ok, possibly too exciting of a weekend for Pam’s taste, but she is in good spirits and has decided that a caption contest will help aid her speedy recovery — laughter is the best medicine, right?

Pam-caption-contestCROPHere’s some material to work with:

  • The injury was tiki decorating related. There was NO RUM involved, but Pam now is giving her barkcloth samples the evil eye. Other fun props in this adventure: Three colorful spaghetti globe lights — oh so sparkly underfoot as you fly past them overhead!
  • The ER at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, Mass. was fantastic. They keep their blankies in a blanket warmer. Pam says the doctor was particularly cute, but admits, that could be the Percocet talking.
  • Pam is right handed and says, “Good luck surviving this, Kate, as you will have to do EVERYTHING for the blog for the next 6-8 weeks until the cast comes off. In the meantime, I will be taking this time to become a better person, starting with reviewing my own safety advice.””

Full story to come on Wednesday. Until then, let’s come up with some funny captions for this pathetic photo of Pam to help cheer her up. Winner gets a $25 gift card.

Ready, GO!

Pam, I’m so sorry, that is awful. Hope you get well very soon.

For my caption, let’s pretend that this happened to a TV decorator, not to Pam :

“I told her, don’t touch that pink tile!”

    Speedy recovery :- )

Oh so true – you have two arms! Wish they could’ve made the cast a lovely turquoise or pink to match your home decor. Speedy recovery is wished for you …. be sure to peep in now and then to let us know you’re doing fine!

“As the tiki gods as my witness, I will NEVER lose a fight over vintage lighting at an estate sale again!”

Feel better quickly Pam. Maybe you can find a vintage Eames molded plywood arm splint!

Wish I could think of something witty but it just ain’t coming to me, Pam. Distressed!

Hope you recuperate at a good clip — SO sorry this happened to her and glad it wasn’t worse. The things one does for love, eh?

Wish I could come up with something clever revolving around Honolulu, in-home bars, Dr. Kildare and Percocet, but just can’t do it — All good wishes from afar to Pam — and to you, Kate.

I get so much pleasure and insight from this blog — many thanks for all you all do to brighten my day and help me appreciate my shack.

“Precautionary Pam reminds: Remember, readers, that vintage nastiness may be found in the layers of old casts. Be sure to consult with a properly licensed doctors to determine what you are working with so that you can make informed decisions about how to handle any potential environmental and safety issues”

OHHH such bad news Pam. We are hoping for your quick recovery!
