Can you guess what was previously beyond this fence, where the rubble is now piled?
Yes, the World of Tile round showroom.
I don’t usually Debbie Downer on this website. But it is what it is.
Thanks to friend Jonathan O’Hea of American Bloomsbury Antiques — who I met at the big liquidation sale — for sending these photos. Yup, it is what it is.

You know the saying that it is better to have loved than never loved at all…well, in this case, I guess it is better to have known about WOT than to have never known at all. I consider myself fortunate to have grown up in the 1960’s when wonderful places like this dotted our landscape. Ah, such happy memories can never be erased by….uh, progress?

Ugh. I’m sure it will be something worthless.
Back where I grew up one of the largest pools in the country which was still drawing great traffic (Dreamland, Portsmouth, Ohio) was filled in so a Dollar Store and Aldi could be built.

Geez, talk about demolishing something… and leaving an eyesore!
What did World of Tile ever do to them??

I’m sure it’ll be turned into something lovely like a parking lot. (sarcasm)
How sad…
