Too much fun, we almost missed it: October 26 is our birthday — RetroRenovation.com has turned eight. In addition to shaking up a Shark Bite, we want to celebrate by asking all our dear readers:
- What would you like to see more of on the blog?
- What burning questions do you have that we might be able to get all Brenda Starr about?
- Any other suggestions… comments… encouragement?
Proceed to the comments section, then go find a cake, cookie or cuppa and join us in a toast to more fantastic years ahead!

Happy Birthday, Ladies!
I would love to see you add a Readers Forum to this site, where we can post our own threads with photos. That would be very fun! And readers can post comments as well. I’m sure it would take a lot of time to manage but you could assign various ‘monitors’ to help out. And I know, everyone is dying to show what they are up to! (My 95 year old Aunt just gave me her 1963 Metz bedroom set, who wouldn’t want to see that?)
Thanks

Hi Paul, I just wanted to respond: I tried this a few years ago, and it got no traction. Very expensive to launch and timely to monitor. So, nope…
Hold on to your photos, though: I am hearing the desire for more uploaders, and we can do that!

Happy Birthday. You have done a great job. We have fun reading about your thoughts and finds, and I know you both sure seem to enjoy telling us all about what you find! May you have many more years of fun!

Happy Birthday! Your most excellent blog finally won me over after several months of being irked with it every time I searched on flooring or cabinets or such in Reno (Nevada) and ended up here in Retro renno. When I calmed down and actually looked at what you have here I could see this was the place! No more settling for the least boring stuff from the big box, I’m retrovating my 80’s ranch in living color.
Your design dilemmas are really awesome (I could send you 5 right now!) and JeffK’s idea of smaller projects is appealing as well. If you could get the readers who’s dilemmas were featured to give an update that would really be something! Of course your downloaders are so much fun too. How about doing one on room dividers?
Keep up the great work! XOXO

I always wondered what retro-loving folks in Reno, NV, thought of us!

Happy Birthday!!!
I would like to see more ways to decorate my 1953 raised ranch with a combination of mid-century modern furniture and decor accents mixed with some current furniture and decor. Also, painting with colors that fall somewhere in between.
When we moved into this house, we had a houseful of transitional style furniture. It hasn’t been financially feasible for us to get rid of all of the furniture to replace it all with mid-century modern. Thanks!

Happy Birthday!!! I’ve been following your blog for years. You ladies provide such a wealth of information about interior design and the Mid Century era. I hope to someday own my own home and I’m sure I’ll be referring to this site even more. I love the uploader, craft projects/tutorials, and historical pieces. Here’s to another 8 years!!! 🙂

Hi! Your blog has been a great resource for my “un-remodel” of my 50s ranch house that previous owners decorated like a frat boy’s condo.
I’d love to see more smaller projects – like salvaging or repurposing furniture or fixing up broken/ busted treasures from estate sales, etc
Would also be interested in How To’s on retro DIYs – like making a fiberglass lampshade or kitchen curtains from vintage aprons…More crafty stuff. After the remodel, there’s always decorating to do!

Happy happy bday!
I discovered you in 2010 and have been a daily reader since. When Kate joined in… just seemed like a perfect match. The only thing I can add is love the downloaders and would love to see them a bit more often, but sincerely, you guys are doing an incredible job. Thanks for your hard work and devotion to a great and unique site!

Aww thanks April! 🙂

Congratulations on eight wonderful years of great articles and lots of fun. A few years ago, my nephew mentioned the “Save the Pink Bathroom” site. Since I was seriously brainwashed at the time by a certain network, I was shocked. But I had to see for myself. And I read. And I read. And I read. And by then I was majorly hooked! I even recently fixed up my bathroom into a reasonable facsimile of a pink bathroom without ripping out a single tile.
I live in a regular California ranch home built in 1957. It doesn’t have a slanty roofline or anything modernish at all. I tend to love the middle of the road décor from the fifties, sixties and seventies. A little colonial revival, a lot of comfortable, and even a little bit of kitsch thrown in.
Small projects would be fun. Design dilemmas are awesome. You guys have impeccable instincts, so just keep doing what you like! 🙂

Happy, happy birthday, Pam. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts (and Kate’s in recent years). I’ve loved the design inspiration as well as the design education. Keep it up! 🙂
