Update: Contest now closed. Congratulations to our two winners, Patti and Danielle. Thanks, everyone, for playing. ENTRIES NOW CLOSED. Practical Props — rulers of the Sputnik light galaxy — has just launched a new ceiling light version of this iconic lighting style. We asked them if they wanted to participate in a giveaway, and they jumped at the chance. In this giveaway, your chances are doubled — because they are providing two lights. Yup, there will be two winners @ win one light.
How to enter to win a Practical Props Sputnik ceiling light:
- To win, you must be a subscriber to our newsletter (Yes, this is “what’s in it for the blog” — you can opt out at any time after the contest ends, or continue on for the stories and because our goal is to schedule a giveaway every two weeks.)
- To enter, use the Comment field on this post below and tell us where you would use your Sputnik ceiling light. Or whatever, we’re easy.
- One entry per person. U.S. delivery addresses only.
- Entries close on Thursday, Nov. 12, around 5 p.m. Eastern — that is, we will close the Comments field at that time.
- Prize: There will be two winners. Each will receive one CF11 Starlight fixture sent directly from Practical Props. Winners can choose either the chrome or satin brass finish.
- Pam will choose the winners via the Random Number Generator at random.org. In this case, we will spin twice, once for each winner. We will email each person. [Tip: Be sure you enter your email address correctly in the email field of the Comment form.] Each winner will have five business days to respond. If we do not hear from them, we will choose the next person who commented. Lather, rinse, repeat. We will post the winners’ first name as soon as all is confirmed.
- Terms of use apply.
Many thanks, Practical Props!
And congrats to Mary, winner of our last giveaway, the 50th anniversary Lava Lamp.

We just moved into a 1956 mid century house complete with original terrazzo floors! We have been slowly renovating it back to its original formal glory. We need this light to replace the horrible boob lights in the hallway!

Hard to decide… I may have to put up a couple! I think our entryway would be best suited to showcase the light – or maybe the hallway – or maybe my dressing area. See? Tough to pick one! We have a large sputnik in our dining room now 🙂

I would put it in my front entryway, It’s a small space in my 1956 mid century modest little ranch with the original pink tile bathroom. Thank you so much for all the great information to help us keep our wonderful houses as they were meant to be!

This light is one I had asked Ian at Practical Props about for while too. My house used to have a six-light fixture very similar to this (in brass – I’ve since switched them to chrome because other family members took the existing lights.) I had sent him pics of that six-light fixture to give him an idea of what it was like – I think this is what he came up with. Pretty awesome.
Yay! Nice to see Practical Props showing some love for a contest – they’ve been great for all of our sputnik lights.
If I were to win this, it would go right in our entryway, in just the right spot to complement our 18-light fixture.

I’m not sure where I’d put the light, but I would probably replace the current ceiling light in my den with the way-cool sputnik light.

I would install it in my 1965 house I’m restoring, especially since the workmen broke the tulip fixture in the hall yesterday!!

The chrome would look great in my bedroom! Perfect finishing touch!

Our little hallway has a ceiling light that we “thought” was cool when we first purchased this house. Now, years later, we have realized…its ugly! Ugh! Our hallway showcases some are and pictures of our adventures, and this Sputnik would really compliment the look and tie in the mid century modern design we have been doing throughout the rest of the house. A bonus, this beautiful ceiling light looks like it flies you to the moon!!!

Thanks to Retro Renovation my pink bathroom was saved! Unfortunately, the fixture in the dressing room (with gold sparkle counter tops) is beyond repair. I’ve been searching for a replacement with no luck, until II saw the Sputnik. I actually bookmarked to order later this month. It’s perfect!
