Did you know that Hip Haven, well-known as maker of fiberglass bullet planters, also makes bullet lighting with the same style of fiberglass shades? Starting with that simple, organic bullet-shape shade gave Hip Haven the opportunity to make its Retro Bullet Lighting Collection quite versatile — the collection includes single sconces, double sconces, pendants, and more, and comes in lots of delicious colors.
My favorite finish (today) is the rattan. Reminds me of some vintage fiberglass sconces I’ve seen in the wild!
The owner of Hip Haven tells us more about the collection:
The Retro Bullet Lighting Collection by Hip Haven
The Retro Bullet Lighting Collection is Hip Haven’s follow up to our signature planter line. The shades are made from the same versatile compression molded fiberglass and are faithful interpretations of their vintage predecessors in their unique texture, translucence, and durability. Integral fibers, a warm, diffused glow give these shades and appearance distinct from plastic or glass.
Fixtures include sconces, ceiling mounts, chandeliers, and more. Shade colors are red, orange, yellow, turquoise, blue, ivory, and rattan. Hardware choices are brass, polished nickel, and black or white powder coated with brass or nickel fittings.
Shades measure 5.25 inches in diameter, 7.25 inches long, and can accept up to 40 watts incandescent.
I don’t know of any other company making lighting with molded fiberglass shades like this, new, today. Thanks to Hip Haven to adding to our lighting options!

I’m kind of losing my mind these are so beautiful. The Deluxe Spun Metal Four-Arm Chandelier over on the website is killer.

I wonder if they will ever venture into using these fiberglass cones to make some landscape lighting spotlights and path lights like were made back in the day. I’d be all about some of those!

Fiber glass will make it sturdy and not so freaky to remove to clean as with glass. And I’m all about the cleaning!

Love these! Makes me reminisce back to my house that we moved into in 1965!!

I have a couple bullet shade floor lamps rescued from thrift stores. A bear to rewire, but well worth it. Luckily there is a lamp supply store near me that had all the esoteric replacement parts I needed.
These lamps manage to be both modern and classic. I don’t see them ever going out of style.
