Vintage Star Trek light — only 500 made — plus more West Palm Beach vintage from Modern Historic

pam kueber - Updated: March 1, 2019

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

star trek lightOf course I was a trekkie. So, I immediately loved this vintage light designed to look like the Star Trek Enterprise. It immediately goes into my wonderful oddities — “woddities” — Hall of Fame.  The Modern Historic is an etsy seller in West Palm Beach, Florida. I can only being to imagine the midcentury wonders that seller Nick is pulling out of condos and homes there. West Palm Beach and this part of southern Florida: One of the key epicenters of midcentury modern cool in the 1960s, for sure! Regarding this light, Nick says:

This Star Trek Enterprise Lamp is original from the 1960’s. Based off of research on Star Trek blogs (who would know best!) there were only 500 of these ever made.

Link: Vintage Star Trek Enterprise chandelier or pendant light, $675, The Modern Historic. Pricey, but not that RR readers are being offered a 20% discount. Nick says:

We love your blog! Offer a 20% off to your customers with coupon code retro! Thanks!!!! Nick

Nick has other vintage lovelies, and he kindly gave me permission to feature some of his photos. Above: Bright orange and chartreuse upholstered sofa from the 1960s or 1970s, $900. So Southern Florida, don’t you think!

Yabba dabba tiki do! Leopard vinyl wrought iron tiki barstools, $300 for the set (plus discount if you use the “retro” code). If I had my Florida condo, I would buy these in a New York minute!

Nesting tables featuring butterflies embedded in plastic, $225.

An unusual coffee table with artsy chartreuse glass panels, $575. Thank you, Nick!

Pam, can you help me find an affordable yet quality tub and shower faucet set in the 1950’s style? I need the hot, cold, and the middle knob for turning on the shower. I looked on Restoration Hardware and EACH ONE is $300-400! We have to get teh work done soon, so I’m hoping to find something quick. When I did a Google search it lead me to you…. Thanks for any ideas you have.

Lela, I don’t have any experience regarding the quality, but how about looking here: http://lockeplumbing.com/catalog.asp?c=Bathroom%20Faucets&s=Tub%20And%20Shower%20Faucets … Thre are a couple of three-handle designs… Good luck, let me know how it turns out.

Agree that Sheldon would for sure have that light in his apartment! Too funny. If I win the lottery, that light is mine. LOVE IT!

Sheldon would for sure love it, that was my first thought when I saw it. There’s a potential for a number of episode spins off that light fixture alone and that price point is change for the show.

They do have some lovely things, don’t they?

I pinned this to Pinterest a couple weeks ago. Why didn’t I think to tip you off, Pam? This could be the fixture you need to bring light to your colonial living room! 😉 I’d get this in a heartbeat if I had the extra cash lying around.

That light is something else. I’ve never seen one before (suppose that’s not hard to grasp since only 500 were made). Very cool. I enjoy window shopping through that sellers page. Really quality items. Thank you for the discount code, Nick!

As a career trekkie, that lighting fixture just made my day. So clever. I love all the other pieces, as well. Thank you so much for the heads-up and the smiles!
