Hi Pam, here’s some pics of one of my great craigslist finds. I got this little beauty for $35. Craigslist is alot like Ebay only backwards…it’s not who can wait till the last second to outbid everyone, but who sets eye’s on it first! I just managed to procure a Knut Hesterberg Propeller Table last week for just $100 by offering $25 more than asking. Yeah, this guy was selling his Propeller table for just !!!$75 BUCKS!!! I’m including a pic of that too, just cuz it’s so cool.

Wow! Like you I found a propeller table for just $50 on craigslist! Plus the guy was located about 30 minutes from my home! I luv craigslist!

I have a friend who has the same print pattern in his car that was supose to have been done in mexico in the 50’s/60’s he’s been looking for the same print vinyl to restore the car. any ideas where someone can find some?

A couple months back, I found a set of 6 bar stools at an estate sale with that exact same red atomic vinyl! I snapped them up for $220; a deal I was happy with since I’ve been seeing stools go for that much *each*.

Interestingly enough, I’m also from St. Louis. My husband and I get excited every time we see an estate sale at a ranch house here in the County. You never know what you might find!

There are advantages to living in the “boring” mid-west. Here in St. Louis there are a very few of us who appreciate these treasures. Add that to the fact that because of the depression many of the older folks around here don’t throw these things out (but relegate them to the basement) and you have estate sale/thrift store/flea mkt/craigslist paradise!
Sellers (including me) can’t get a good price for mid-century items around here so buyers get pretty good bargains. But to find them you have to really look, a lot. And be ready to buy. I just bought a beautiful bedroom set of Heywood Wakefield Rio for just $630 (two nightstands, chest of drawers, vanity w/pouffe & mirror, and full size headboard) and a functioning Philco Predicta TV for $260. Both from C-list, Egads!
Since I can’t get “full value” here at home I have found that when I take long weekend trips to New Orleans and Chicago I can get better prices selling on C-list there. Chicago because there are more people there who actually appreciate these items and New Orleans because they don’t have anything…no, not just cuz of the storms but also because they don’t have any basements. I paid for my Halloween vacation in N. O. using this method!

So cool! Where do you live, Christopher? I look on the Washington, DC Craigslist once-in-awhile but seems like everyone here wants a lot of money for rather “typical” vintage stuff.
