Vintage Frigidaire Flair – the all time favorite for a 60s kitchen?

pam kueber - Updated: September 11, 2020

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

vintage-pink-frigidaire-flair-ad-2.jpgFlickr friend Two-Bad provides these images of his (her?) Frigidaire Flair range, along with a vintage ad. Readers say that Samantha Stevens had one in Bewitched. While this model had many imitators – for some reason, the Frigidaire Flair seems to be everyone’s favorite. And look at how great the Danish Modern orange looks with the pink… and the gold… and are those popovers in the oven on the left? Many thanks, Two-Bad!

I have a Flair in my turquoise kitchen, and it’s the best oven I’ve ever had, both esthetically and functionally! Pam, I sent you some pictures a while back…

GREAT stove!! I also loved the Stephen’s kitchen. Their Frigidaire stove and their bottom freezer fridge. Thanks for the great pics!

    Hey there,

This house that I just went to see in San Diego has this still. It was gross and my Hubby could barely pull the stove part. I told him I loved it and he told me I was crazy!!! Ok, I am a bit 🙂 I am still trying to talk him into buying this house for me!

Not that far past… I moved into a home in Alton in ’84 and behold in the kitchen was one of these stoves! I had never seen anything like this before! Mine was the traditional brown with the dark brown sides and stainless steel. I have to say it worked like a dream!!

That stove looks great in Two-Bad’s kitchen! Perfect spot.

Terri – those button switches sound amazing. We have spring-loaded switches in our house, they took a little bit to get used to!

Terri, those pushbutton light switches go for good money on the ‘bay these days if they’re the ones I’m thinking of. They were designed by Dreyfuss & Assoc if I recall, and featured clear, curved switch plates that allowed one to put any backing they liked inside. No unsightly screws, either!

My grandparents, who would now be almost 100 years old, had a very cool/mod decor house in the 1960’s. They had this oven in their kitchen, it was all stainless and when it wasn’t in use, it slid back and the top covered the burners. They kitchen and bathroom were pink. They didn’t have light switches, but big round push buttons to turn on the lights!

This is also in the movie “Blast From the Past”, a movie that never fails to satisfy my retro cravings.
