A new steel cabinet brand discovered this weekend!

Pam Kueber - Updated: November 4, 2020

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

I feel like a giddy archeologist every time a new brand of metal kitchen cabinets surfaces.

I did some cleanup and additions to the Forum this long holiday weekend. Updated count: 45 distinct brands of steel kitchen cabinets from the 1930s through the 1980s! Admiral Steel Kitchens by Admiral Metal Products Inc. of Chicago is the latest, with a lone cabinet just listed in the San Francisco area.

And be sure to let our St. Charles hunters know if you have the odds and ends they are looking for. What goes around comes around.

Thanks, Peggy! I’ve also added your comments to the Forum, where I’m trying to catalog the history of all steel kitchen cabinets.

The Admiral kitchen was probably a stab at competition for the GE kitchens that were so popular in the 50’s.
Admiral was also an appliance maker…Still is, in fact.
