Update: Entries (comments) on this story are now closed. Congratulations to winners Renee (vase) and Melissa (apron) — I done spun the random number generator, and their number came up. Prizes awarded! Thanks, everyone, for playing — how much fun to read about everyone’s kitchens! Can you believe it, this Savoy vase, designed by Alvar Aalto, has been in continuous production since 1936 — that’s 75 years. Courtesy of sponsor FinnStyle.com, one reader will win this lovely classic vase this week.
And to double the fun, FinnStyle also is offering a second prize for a second reader: a Marimekko apron of your choice. This Kesatori design is my perky favorite — but I count 8 styles of Marimekko aprons, with a total of 14 possible colors. Continue on for instructions on how to enter to win our one of our two giveaways this week –>

My kitchen colors are brown, orange, and white. I love Scandinavian design and already accent the room with Marrimekko potholders and trays. I’d be thrilled to win the apron or the Aalto vase. I gave a small Aalto vase to my daughter last year filled with peppermints for Christmas (I even bought it from FinnStyle — they’re amazing) I was jealous of my own gift and would love one of my own!

My kitchen colors are jadeite green, biscuit white and cherry red. Currently, my ’57 Westinghouse electric stove is awaiting restoration, so modern appliances will have to do for now. My project that has been on-again, off-again due to a million reasons, valid and invalid, are my curtains, which have a small cherry print. They are nearly done now, and I will send a pic when that happens. I bought a 1940’s switch plate cover from Fondue, at Etsy, and I love it! Of course, it has what else–cherries!

I love your colors! I want to paint the outside of our house in a similar pallete: biscuit white, fiesta red, fiesta lemongrass green, and white. I know, sounds Christmas-y, but it really works.:) Thanks for sharing!

My kitchen is inspired by my great grandmother’s utensil set, one of those that hang on the wall. It has creamy yellow handles and I’ve complimented that color with light to medium shades of periwinkle. I plan to keep my eye open for retro dishes of all types in these colors to add to the design.

Cabinets are light blue and light green and floor is “watermelon” marmoleum. Fingers crossed… the 22nd is my birthday!

My kitchen is in desperate need of renovation. It’s a 50s house with an ugly 80s kitchen. Sigh. Wish I had some of the original kitchen! But it’s all gone, other than the scalloped trim on the pantry and coat closet around the corner. However, we’ve painted the non-hideously wallpapered walls (a horrible 80s “country” pattern) a pretty yellow, and my dishes are Fiesta turquoise, chartreuse green, and tangerine. I have a mango orange Kitchenaid mixer. Enough colors for ya? Oddly, it all works, or it will once I get a new (vintage) kitchen in.

Other than my charcoal gray laminate countertops, my kitchen is all white. A timeless combo. 🙂

We’re currently living in a 1906 victorian but I’m renovating another 1951 ranch.Anyway our kitchen has maple natural wood cabinets put in by the former owners .They were too nice to rip out and putting in a historically correct kitchen wouldn’t be practical so they have stayed.A year ago we ripped up layers of old tile but discovered the original linoleum (which was just a beautiful mix of pink and brown)was too damaged to keep. The kitchen floor we put in has the same look but is now a speckled blue grey linoleum.Just recently we painted the walls, put in some vintage blue and white wallpaper ,and I’m so happy with the results.I’ve got my red clock on the wall with the cute red, blue and yellow fruit lamp.My old sunbeam mixer has it’s plastic fruit (same colors)cover on and my canisters are white with blue accents and fruit decals. So I ‘m a person who just loves the 1940’s red white and blue color scheme and I’m all for using those colors that make a person happy .

Just bought a 1968 split level fixer-upper! In 2003 someone fixed up the kitchen with white cupboards to which I’ve added black flooring, knobs, etc. and some very cool vintage Swedish touches (lots of blue). Love this blog!
