Update: Entries (comments) on this story are now closed. Congratulations to winners Renee (vase) and Melissa (apron) — I done spun the random number generator, and their number came up. Prizes awarded! Thanks, everyone, for playing — how much fun to read about everyone’s kitchens! Can you believe it, this Savoy vase, designed by Alvar Aalto, has been in continuous production since 1936 — that’s 75 years. Courtesy of sponsor FinnStyle.com, one reader will win this lovely classic vase this week.
And to double the fun, FinnStyle also is offering a second prize for a second reader: a Marimekko apron of your choice. This Kesatori design is my perky favorite — but I count 8 styles of Marimekko aprons, with a total of 14 possible colors. Continue on for instructions on how to enter to win our one of our two giveaways this week –>

The colors in my kitchen right now are pretty boring b/c we’re in an apt, but the colors of my mixer and some pots etc are aqua, lime green, and yellow 🙂

Original burnt-edge avocado metal cabinets and stainless steel GE wall ovens.

Before I moved into this apartment, the original Geneva cabinets had been tragically removed. I put in maple cabinets and the kitchen is painted two shades of warm tan, one of which is very rich in color. Faux granite look laminate counter tops. Accent pieces are a collection of turquoise Fiesta tea pots and a plate rack with Bavarian china painted in shades of blue and turquoise. Turquoise — the happiest color on earth!

we have original simple wood cabinets painted white with Boomerang handles
Recently painted the walls ” swimming pool blue “and some walls a soft butter yellow
it looks awesome.
we have an original 1950s GE stove that came with the place and a large porcelain farmers type sink with side drain and now we need to decide on the flooring as the the previous owners had a burgundy patterned vinyl tiles that really is quite uninspiring . a colourful apron will be very nice to add to the mix

The aprons are great, but the vase is amazing because it is absolutely timeless. I love your blog, but we’re not living in a time capsule. The kitchen in my 1958 split is beach colors–blue and white and sand and a little sea form green, with oak floors and white cabinets. The house has been renovated many times in it’s 53 years, not always for the better! I’m trying to accomplish truly timeless.

We’ve just finished our kitchen: it’s now green and white, with some warm gold here and there. I’ve been meaning to add a picture to your Sunday “finish your project” post, but … I’ve been too tired! Renovating and redecorating wear me out! But I would love an apron; that would perk me up!

Creamy white painted cabinets, aqua walls, speckled beige tile (sounds kinda boring, but original to the ’57 house), rose pink sink, reproduction barkcloth curtains in pastel Eames era squiggles. So, basically tones of aqua, pink, cream, yellow, mint green, a nice assortment of mid-tone pastels.
