Update: Entries (comments) on this story are now closed. Congratulations to winners Renee (vase) and Melissa (apron) — I done spun the random number generator, and their number came up. Prizes awarded! Thanks, everyone, for playing — how much fun to read about everyone’s kitchens! Can you believe it, this Savoy vase, designed by Alvar Aalto, has been in continuous production since 1936 — that’s 75 years. Courtesy of sponsor FinnStyle.com, one reader will win this lovely classic vase this week.
And to double the fun, FinnStyle also is offering a second prize for a second reader: a Marimekko apron of your choice. This Kesatori design is my perky favorite — but I count 8 styles of Marimekko aprons, with a total of 14 possible colors. Continue on for instructions on how to enter to win our one of our two giveaways this week –>

Actually, I am getting ready to paint! It will be a light yellow and I am going to do some kind of gray accent on the large blank wall.
Then my kitchen decor will be primary colored Pyrex and other retro kitchen yummy-ness!
Hope I win 🙂

I have a tiny apartment kitchen that is all white and I added purple and yellow accents to keep it bright. I have a vintage creamer and chopper on a shelf that are pale pink, it is eclectic and happy!

My kitchen is in a horrible state right now. We are in the process of pricing a backsplash and awaiting our new silestone quartz countertops in Marengo which is a flat dark gray. The walls were recently painted sherwin williams Zircon, which is like a light gray. In my dimly lit room it reads just a hint of lavender. My cabinets are original built in place that are Sherwin Williams Dover white and have chrome arch pulls. I’m trying to put as much color in the backsplash and drapery as I can without looking like a child put it together! I’d like it to be blues, greens and grays to match our original 50’s bathroom that is adjacent to it. It is so much work finding tile and fabrics!

I’m entering for my daughter. The kitchen in her 70’s cottage is white on white with turquoise accents. She’d love either prize very much.

My kitchen is Cottage white on one wall-tan on 2 walls and green on the 4th. rest of the kitchen is in beige/tan/green with wood floors and maple cabinets-But my DREAM kitchen would have tourquise boomarang laminate, white subway tile back splash and light graycabinets.—

My ’59 ranch kitchen has walls painted in Ice Floe, and trim is in Pearl Drops, both Behr colors. The cabinetry is maple, appliances are white. Dish towels are in reds, dishes are in blues and whites. Attached dining area is in the same colors, with dining table and side table in oak. I love the colors but they really are too cool for north-facing rooms. I’ve been meaning to get some yellow or orange accessories to warm things up — hey, how about an apron in such colors?

My kitchen colors are oak wood panelling and oak hardwood floors, and when polished, it is absolutely beautiful. My home is a converted schoolhouse where my grandmother taught in the 1960’s right before school consolidation closed the school. My interest in this contest is due to another reason, however. My dad’s name is Savoy, and I would LOVE to win that vase!!!!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Ideally the colors of my kitchen are to be blue and white but that will require the removal of the 90s era fruity brown wallpaper.

my kitchen has original tile from when the house was built in 1950. it’s medium blue around the trim and light blue in the middle. i have fun orange accents like my kitchen aid mixer and towels and stuff. the floor is ugly laminate wood which is going to change in the future. we may extend the vct from our laundry room.

Love your floor! Is that pattern random or planned? And did you remove all the old flooring first before laying down the new?

Just moved into this house so the current colors in the kitchen (oh so much beige) will not be around for long.
We’re ripping off the wallpaper and painting the walls a vivid turquoise, almost teal (Behr’s Mermaid Treasure), to coordinate with my Fiestaware. The Fiestaware is turquoise, persimmon, sunflower, shamrock, lemongrass, chartreuse, tangerine, and marigold as well as a few pieces in vintage red, blue, yellow, etc. Pieces are on display in the kitchen & dining room.
I’ll be making curtains out of this sweet fabric, the pattern is called Modern Market, and it’s a cute pear print in greens, yellows, and oranges.
We discovered hardwood floors under the nondescript 80s vinyl flooring so we’ll have them refinished, but then we’ll probably put in a FLOR carpet tile rug in bright turquoise, yellows, oranges, and greens.
