Rejuvenation starburst bathroom hardware no longer in production

Kate - Updated: November 4, 2020

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

Get the last remaining stock o’ starbursts while you can

atomic-star-towel-ring-rejuvenation mid century modern bathroom towel bar with atomic starburst mid century modern atomic starburst toilet paper holder mid century modern style robe hook bathroom shelf with atomic star holder atomic star towel ring from rejuvenationSome sad news today on the retro wire — thanks to a tip from Facebook follower Shawn — we’ve learned that is was necessary for Rejuvenation to discontinue of their Perry bathroom towel rods, rings, hooks, and shelf and toilet paper holders — including the atomic stars aka starbursts and the squares, too. Pam reached out to Marketing at Rejuvenation, which confirmed:

We’ve lost our vendor/partner for the Perry bath hardware collection. We simply cannot make it at the moment. When we are able to align with a new partner, we’ll re-evaluate the collection and decide whether or not to move forward with it.

Good news, though, Rejuvenation also said:

As a whole, we have no intention of discontinuing our MCM collections or leaving mid-century design.

Starburst stock still available — but when it’s gone, it’s gone

Meanwhile, we called customer service directly and learned that there still is some stock from this line available at the warehouse and in some Rejuvenation stores. So if you’ve had your heart set on adding these starbursts to your retro bathroom or kitchen remodel: Act Now.

According to the phone representative I spoke with, it is best to call Rejuvenation directly to confirm availability and to order, versus trying to place orders through their website, which is not linked directly to inventory.

This news pushed me into a personal panic involving the starburst toilet paper holder…

As soon as Pam told me about Shawn’s tip, my heart started beating wildly. Fearing the worst, I immediately navigated to the website and found that some pieces from the line were no longer listed. Panic began to set in, since I still have not found a vintage starburst toilet paper holder for my retro pink bathroom remodel, and the reproduction starburst TP holder from Rejuvenation was my back up plan. I quickly dialed Rejuvenation’s number. Within minutes, the representative confirmed my worst nightmare — okay, that is an exaggeration — that the Perry Starburst bathroom hardware line was on the outs. Immediately, I dashed to the other side of the house to get my wallet.

The friendly sales rep must have wondered why I was suddenly slightly out of breath. I babbled something about me needing a starburst toilet paper in polished chrome to finish my epic pink retro master bathroom remodel. Then there was a long pause — I thought I’d been disconnected — but it was probably the sales rep trying to stifle her laughter — or maybe she was just searching through inventory. Yes, that must have been it.

Indeed, she was able to find a polished chrome starburst toilet paper holder for me. Crisis averted, phew. Relieved, I thanked her profusely and asked how many items in this line were left overall. She said the available stock is extremely limited, and if an item was no longer available on the website, it is likely gone or only available in stores with stock remaining on their shelves. Her advice was to call immediately for best availability. Anyone who has been thinking about purchasing starburst bathroom hardware from Rejuvenation, there is precious little time left to secure yourself some of this bling. Stop procrastinating.

Now please excuse me while I go lie down for a minute.

Surprising given all the ranches that they don’t do more mid-century and expand the line! I would have bought the bath line but was waiting for them in brass. Guess that will not happen now!

We bought the atomic starburst door bell and door handle in brass from Rejuvenation. They’re very substantial and so cute — really bring home the point we’re proud 1961 ranch owners. I’m not sure they’re made by the same company. Wonder if the exterior pieces are also going to be discontinued?

I’ve asked Rejuvenation for more detail on what else — if any — will be affected. I’ll do a followup when we have that info.

So I just called and placed my order. Agent let me know she’s been getting lots of calls, but no orders. I may have just purchased the last TP holder. Hubs wanted to do both baths in MCM; will have to settle for one.

Remember there are plenty of MCM bath hardware designs, as discussed above. It doesn’t have to be chrome starbursts. And there are classic ones still in production, as well as bits on eBay that you can collect over time. Look through this site for all the articles on bath hardware and look at the online catalogs.

I had heard some while back that Rejuvenation had been bought out and was no longer the small privately owned, customer oriented company it once was. ( For some reason I am thinking Williams Sonoma bought them?) Perhaps this has something to do with these less than stellar changes?
(Ha ha stellar….starbursts…no pun intended. Sorry I’m on pain pills!)

Williams-Sonoma does own Rejuvenation now, along with Pottery Barn & West Elm.

Pink potty panic!! I’m so glad disaster was averted.

For the rest of us who may miss out on these fixtures, let’s keep in mind that we 21st century retro renovators have sort of fixated (hah! no pun intended) on a relatively small range of mid century design themes – one of them being starbursts. But there were loads of other designs out there, which means we can still get the authentic look without tearing our hair out looking for starbursts or Hall Mack accessories. But if you have your heart set on a certain look by all means go for it!

Yes, I had thoughts of buying loads more starburst towel bars, but realized that one starburst bathroom was good for this house. In the future, I will try another style for my other bathrooms. As much as I love starbursts, I don’t want to go overboard and become that “crazy starburst lady.” 😉

I’m really into Asian-inspired stuff right now. My grandmother’s best friend’s home was full of Japanese-inspired decor. I always thought her home was SO elegant. I could never pull off that level of elegance but I do admire those who can.

Glad you found your TP holder, Kate! But have no worries about being that “Crazy Starburst Lady”? You, Amber, I and a few others still hold the title of “Crazy Pink Toilet Princesses.” Crazy Starburst Lady is so way down the totem pole from that title! 🙂

haha, now you have me wanting to design a totem pole

this all reminds me of Anne Taintor’s famous caption:

Oh how sad! I got a little twitch reading this, even though our own bathroom remodel last year included 3 of their Starburst pieces, so I have no need for them personally (like Janice, ours were in a box for a year waiting for the right time). I sure hope they’ll come to another production arrangement in the future, it’s such a fantastic line.

Wow…I’ve had three of these pieces sitting in boxes for 2 years waiting to be used in our next bathroom remodel which is actually starting next week. So glad I got them when I did! Kate, glad you scored a TP starburst!

Not to be a downer, but I’ve had trouble with my starburst towel rings from this line staying secured. I’ve tightened the set screw as much as I dare. I’m not as happy with these as I was hoping to be.

I am no DIY queen but are you securing these to a piece of the stud wall? If not, perhaps you need a molly bolt?

Your post made me laugh. Lucky you! When you finished your pink potty without a TP holder, delaying the purchase of a new one; I thought Oh this could get ugly. Mfrs constantly shuffle and discontinue lines of merchandise. I am so happy for you. So many times I have put off buying something and going back later to find it’s gone.

Thank goodness for this well connected community of retro renovators! The tip from Shawn saved me from a possible life without a starburst TP holder…oh the horror! 🙂

When I read the headline of this post, I thought of Kate’s toilet paper holder. Glad you were able to get it, Kate. And now the acquired toilet paper holder will be another story to tell about your great bathroom!

Yes, Phew! That was a close one! Remodeling adventures make for great stories, don’t they? 🙂
