Rejuvenation starburst bathroom hardware no longer in production

Kate - Updated: November 4, 2020

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

Get the last remaining stock o’ starbursts while you can

atomic-star-towel-ring-rejuvenation mid century modern bathroom towel bar with atomic starburst mid century modern atomic starburst toilet paper holder mid century modern style robe hook bathroom shelf with atomic star holder atomic star towel ring from rejuvenationSome sad news today on the retro wire — thanks to a tip from Facebook follower Shawn — we’ve learned that is was necessary for Rejuvenation to discontinue of their Perry bathroom towel rods, rings, hooks, and shelf and toilet paper holders — including the atomic stars aka starbursts and the squares, too. Pam reached out to Marketing at Rejuvenation, which confirmed:

We’ve lost our vendor/partner for the Perry bath hardware collection. We simply cannot make it at the moment. When we are able to align with a new partner, we’ll re-evaluate the collection and decide whether or not to move forward with it.

Good news, though, Rejuvenation also said:

As a whole, we have no intention of discontinuing our MCM collections or leaving mid-century design.

Starburst stock still available — but when it’s gone, it’s gone

Meanwhile, we called customer service directly and learned that there still is some stock from this line available at the warehouse and in some Rejuvenation stores. So if you’ve had your heart set on adding these starbursts to your retro bathroom or kitchen remodel: Act Now.

According to the phone representative I spoke with, it is best to call Rejuvenation directly to confirm availability and to order, versus trying to place orders through their website, which is not linked directly to inventory.

This news pushed me into a personal panic involving the starburst toilet paper holder…

As soon as Pam told me about Shawn’s tip, my heart started beating wildly. Fearing the worst, I immediately navigated to the website and found that some pieces from the line were no longer listed. Panic began to set in, since I still have not found a vintage starburst toilet paper holder for my retro pink bathroom remodel, and the reproduction starburst TP holder from Rejuvenation was my back up plan. I quickly dialed Rejuvenation’s number. Within minutes, the representative confirmed my worst nightmare — okay, that is an exaggeration — that the Perry Starburst bathroom hardware line was on the outs. Immediately, I dashed to the other side of the house to get my wallet.

The friendly sales rep must have wondered why I was suddenly slightly out of breath. I babbled something about me needing a starburst toilet paper in polished chrome to finish my epic pink retro master bathroom remodel. Then there was a long pause — I thought I’d been disconnected — but it was probably the sales rep trying to stifle her laughter — or maybe she was just searching through inventory. Yes, that must have been it.

Indeed, she was able to find a polished chrome starburst toilet paper holder for me. Crisis averted, phew. Relieved, I thanked her profusely and asked how many items in this line were left overall. She said the available stock is extremely limited, and if an item was no longer available on the website, it is likely gone or only available in stores with stock remaining on their shelves. Her advice was to call immediately for best availability. Anyone who has been thinking about purchasing starburst bathroom hardware from Rejuvenation, there is precious little time left to secure yourself some of this bling. Stop procrastinating.

Now please excuse me while I go lie down for a minute.

Thanks so much for the post and e-mail alert. It’s quite timely as we drew up our bathroom remodel plans this past weekend and are planning the details. I went to the Berkeley store at lunch at got my order in, though they indicated they expect everything to sell quickly.

I just ordered the very last toilet paper holder they had in stock. I also ordered the towel bar and the shelf in the Perry Starburst. Thanks for the email otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to get the VERRRY last one. YOUR THE BEST PAM!

Thanks a TON for the post!! I snagged a few of the items for an upcoming house build. Unfortunately, the ring towel holder was sold out at all of their stores. I’ll start trolling ebay & hope something pops-up there in the next 6 months or so 🙂

I’d be willing to bet that a savvy investor could buy out the remaining stock and sell it for double the retail price over the next 6 months to a year. When it’s available brand-new, people are complacent, they’ll just wait until they need it. But now the shoe is on the other foot….

Yes, unfortunately. That’s why we posted this story. So’s “real folk” can get what they ‘need’ while the getting is good!

I discovered Liz’s Antique Hardware the last time I was in LA. They have some great MCM stuff in their new line and tons of salvage and NOS stock. (http://www.lahardware.com/)

I’m years away from buying a home (mid-twenties, transient) but have an urge to buy a few towel bars. Crazy or no?

I’ve recently discovered this site and I am loving it. I live in a 1956 mid-century modern home with the original kitchen. I would love to get some ideas on what to do with it. Still has the original gray formica counters, cabinets that were built on-site, and the original “carrara marble” linoleum. I don’t care for the herb tile backsplash above the stove. Could I send some photos?

Ironically enough, I just got a Rejuvenation catalog in the mail. Like 5 minutes ago!

There was precious little MCM in it. A few styles of hanging fixtures. I think one bath light fixture, and the Blenko lamps. No cabinet hardware at all, no bath hardware, no entry door knobs/back plates, etc.

I’m sorry I didn’t think to bring the catalog in with me as I write this, so I could be more specific. I can certainly do that if someone is interested.

In my opinion, if you’re waffling over something from Rejuvenation, I’d make up my mind pretty fast, because I don’t think this looks too promising.

Check the website — I think that Rejuvenation’s product line has grown a lot over the past few years and that they can only feature so much in a catalog, which is a very expensive form of marketing. That said, yes, specialty items like this come — then go. Get ’em while the getting is good.

This catalog is called “2014 Resource Guide” and is 91 pages.

Yikes. Hmmm. The mainstream market today seems to be all about that dreary, colorless, oversized, faux-European, faux-antique, vampire Restoration Hardware look. Is that what’s in Rejuv’s catalog, too? I was in New York City this past weekend, and walked into the large Pottery Barn on the Upper West Side; it was full of the stuff. It was raining outside, and it was as bleak and greige inside as out. I left immediately, I preferred the downpour. But, that’s what the mainstream has been hypnotized to believe is chic right now. Okay. Now I am breaking my own commenting rule. But I truly do not understand the appeal. The 2010s will do down as a horrific period of time for mass market interior design, mark my words.

Oh no, this catalog is nowhere near the dreary sepia of Restoration Hardware, but there is a hint of it. I would say more…..umm…industrial? A lot more pendants with clear shades and Edison light bulbs. The black and white porcelain bathroom fixtures were still there. What is that, like 1940’s? There are 5 pages of knobs and pulls/cabinet hardware. The boomerang or chevron, the round convex pulls, back plates, and the like aren’t pictured. I saw no MC represented at all.

No MC towel bars or bath accessories.

As for lighting, the Blenko lamps, the Astron , and the Galaxy, were the only PICTURED choices. As for the bathroom lighting, the Stella, and the Nimbus. That’s it. Not even the white globe shade on a stick!

Not one piece of MCM door hardware was shown out of 6 pages. No Starburst, that cool Brutalist set wasn’t shown.

They now have towels and laundry stuff, which I don’t recall them having before. They were in exciting colors such as: Sand, Stone, Cream and Pumice.

Now, I agree 100%, just because they aren’t pictured, doesn’t mean they are no longer available. Maybe one HAS to visit the website. Perhaps there was no intention of getting all of their products into a catalog, and this is just the sampling they chose.

Clearly, they are evolving. Case in point, before we moved to our 1955 ranch 3 years ago, we lived in a 1909 four-square which we completely renovated. We got many, many things from Rejuvenation. Hanging light fixtures mainly. I saw nothing like that in this new catalog. If I were still working on that house, there wouldn’t have been one thing for me to order. So, its not just MCM that has been downsized.

Pam, I would be happy to send you this catalog, and you can have a look-see.

Thanks, Lynne, I am sure I will get a catalog. The ‘industrial’ style you describe is also part of the larger marketplace trend right now. It’s an oversized industrial…

Makes me wonder (or fear) what’s coming next after the faux-European and Industrial look becomes passe? Even less color and variety?

I purchased the starburst hand towel holder with the lucite ring at Rejuvenation in Portland last year. Hauled it home to Denver. Then hauled it back to the Great Lakes to install in our newly renovated bath in our 1959 WI summer home.

I had the contractor hang it so it would be properly secured and it’s been great! We love it!! Now I wish I had purchased more in this very cool line.
