I never had a lava lamp of my own, but as a kid I remember being fascinated with the ones I would see at the Spencer Gifts at the local mall; those and the fiber optic lamps as well.

I have always been a lover of all things retro. When I turned 16, my parents got me a lava lamp in blue and yellow, my school’s colors. It is still one of my most prized possessions!
Carolyn says
My granddaughter (16) already has one so another would make a statement (OK, of what I’m not sure but still…it’s a Lava-Lamp!)
Marianne P. says
I would gift it to my nephew – he just bought his first house and it has a Tiki batr by the pool – that’s the perfect location for it!
Bette Jean says
I had one in the seventies when I was in college. When my boys went away to college in the 90s I gave them each one. Was lucky to find vintage at garage sales for as little as $2. They love them. I’d give my lucky winning lamp to my grandaughter!

I would put it in the living room, with all my other mid century stuff

Luv it!

Wow–totally cool! I’m torn: I might display the lamp on the mantle in the living room or use it to jazz up our Florida room!
John says
Hi Pam,
I would use my new Lava Lamp in my Fallout shelter turned Tiki Bar.

My parents had one back in the early 70’s- I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen (I was about 10 at the time). Don’t know what ever happened to it, but I’ve always wanted one since.
We now live in a 1961 ranch style here in Seattle. Now that I know it’s early ’60’s roots, I want one even more. It would proudly be displayed on top of our wonderful mid-century stone mantle!
