Contest now completed: Congratulations to Mary, winner of the Lava Lamp! Thanks, everyone, for playing!

It was fun to write about the 50 year history of Lava Lamps (and see those 20+ vintage designs). Now to follow up: A giveaway courtesy of Lava Lite LLC. One lucky winner will receive a 16.3″ special 50th Anniversary edition of the Lava Lamp — in an cool yellow, purple and gold color combination.

How to enter to win a 50th Anniversary 16.3″ Lava Lamp:

  1. To win, you must be a subscriber to our newsletter (Yes, this is “what’s in it for the blog” — you can opt out at any time after the contest ends.)
  2. To enter, keep scrolling to the Comment field below and tell us where you would use your Lava Lamp. Or a Lava Lamp memory. Or whatever, we’re easy.
  3. One entry per person. Lower 48 U.S. delivery addresses only.
  4. Entries close on Thursday, Oct. 29, around 5 p.m. Eastern — that is, we will close the Comments field at that time.
  5. Prize: One winner will receive one 16.3″ 50th Anniversary yellow wax/purple liquid/gold cap & base Lava Lamp sent directly from Lava Lite LLC.
  6. Pam will choose the winners via the Random Number Generator at random.org. We will email the winner. [Tip: Be sure you enter your email address correctly in the email field of the Comment form.] The winner will have five business days to respond. If we do not hear from you, we will choose the next person who commented. Lather, rinse, repeat. We will post the winner’s first name as soon as all is confirmed.
  7. Terms of use apply.

Many thanks, Lava Lite LLC!

Note: Lava Lite LLC did not pay us to host this giveaway —

Congratulations to Vanessa, winner of our last giveaway — the vintage NOS Hall-Mack Conceal-A-Roll.

My youngest son has always wanted a lava lamp – I would love to be able to give him this one! I remember them from when they first came out. I was never able to get one for myself but I loved them at everyone else’s house – Mom never approved – LOL!

I will put this fine lamp in my groovy mancave next to my liquor collection.
I have had many lava lights since the age of 10 and have always had a love for them. Thanks for the great newsletter!

    Hi,
We would probably use it in our future tiki bar or on the mantle.

Awesome site as always – THANKS for all your hard work.

Ooh – I’m younger than the original Lava Lite – barely!

Of course I would love to have one on my next birthday cake (better make a big cake…)

Would love a lava lamp to cast a soft soothing glow on my desk at work. Trust me, I need one.

I’ve wanted a Lava Lamp since forever! Was transfixed by them in the furniture section of our fave department store when I was 5 or 6 or so. I got a knock-off last year for our family room — it no longer works. Time to do this right!

Every room in my house is designed with a different theme; living room is MCM, kitchen is 50s diner, dining room is Hawaiian Tiki, spare bedroom is The Endless Summer surf room and my studio is done in 60s Go Go/Austin Powers. This is where the lava lamp would go since my cat just recently knocked over my original lava lamp and broke it. Ugh!

We had a red lava lamp in our basement rec room sitting on top of our new color television. No room to put a new lava lamp on my flat sceeen TV but there’s plenty of room on the credenza next to it.

I would put this purple lava lamp on the other bedside table in my bedroom. I have a blue one on the other table. My bedding is purple, blue, and green, so this would look amazing!
