It was fun to write about the 50 year history of Lava Lamps (and see those 20+ vintage designs). Now to follow up: A giveaway courtesy of Lava Lite LLC. One lucky winner will receive a 16.3″ special 50th Anniversary edition of the Lava Lamp — in an cool yellow, purple and gold color combination.
How to enter to win a 50th Anniversary 16.3″ Lava Lamp:
- To win, you must be a subscriber to our newsletter (Yes, this is “what’s in it for the blog” — you can opt out at any time after the contest ends.)
- To enter, keep scrolling to the Comment field below and tell us where you would use your Lava Lamp. Or a Lava Lamp memory. Or whatever, we’re easy.
- One entry per person. Lower 48 U.S. delivery addresses only.
- Entries close on Thursday, Oct. 29, around 5 p.m. Eastern — that is, we will close the Comments field at that time.
- Prize: One winner will receive one 16.3″ 50th Anniversary yellow wax/purple liquid/gold cap & base Lava Lamp sent directly from Lava Lite LLC.
- Pam will choose the winners via the Random Number Generator at random.org. We will email the winner. [Tip: Be sure you enter your email address correctly in the email field of the Comment form.] The winner will have five business days to respond. If we do not hear from you, we will choose the next person who commented. Lather, rinse, repeat. We will post the winner’s first name as soon as all is confirmed.

When I was an adolescent, I shook my mothers beloved LavaLamp and ruined one of her her favorite decorations. If I win the 50th anniversary edition of LavaLamp from Lava Lite llc; I would gift it to my mom on her birthday in December. I bet she would place it so she could see it every day. I think it would be great as a night light.

Lava lamps combine the best things: cheerful colors, soothing light, and relaxing motion. I’ve always loved them, and have picked up a few original vintage bases at thrift stores. Since purple is my favorite color, this would be a great one to win! It’d look great in my retro bedroom.

I have a tiny Lava Lamp that plugs into a USB port! I guess that’s not exactly vintage… A real, full-sized version would be very cool to have. I’d put it in my living room.

I’ve been the oddball in my family for as long as I’ve been a part of it; I’ve always been obsessed with anything funky, or a part of counter-culture. I would put this lamp to good use to keep the mellow mood.
