UPDATE: Contest closed. We spinned (spun?) the random and have a winner: Congrats to Lisa, whose number came up and who promptly claimed our prize. Come back every other Friday for our next giveaway!
Howdy, hudee — it’s our first giveaway of the new year. Yesterday we wrote about how gobsmacked Pam was, when she saw the Ikea PS 2014 pendant lamp for the first time in person. Today — you can enter to win one of these lights, provided by Ikea.
How to enter to win an Ikea PS 2014 pendant light:
- To win, you must be a subscriber to our newsletter (Yes, this is “what’s in it for the blog” — you can opt out at any time after the contest ends, or continue on for the stories and because our goal is to schedule a giveaway every two weeks.)
- To enter, use the Comment field on this post below and tell us where you might hang this light. Or whatever, we’re easy.
- One entry per person. U.S. lower 48 states only.
- Entries close on Friday, Jan. 22, around 5 p.m. Eastern — that is, we will close the Comments field at that time.
- Prize: There will be one winner. The winner will receive the light in the color of their choice directly from Ikea.
- Pam will choose the winners via the Random Number Generator at random.org. We will email each person. [Tip: Be sure you enter your email address correctly in the email field of the Comment form.] The winner will have five business days to respond. If we do not hear from them, we will choose the next person who commented. Lather, rinse, repeat. We will post the winner’s first name as soon as all is confirmed.
- Terms of use apply.
Many thanks to Ikea for providing the light for this giveaway!
And congrats to Richard, winners of our last giveaway, a vintage Christmas ornament wreath from Georgia Peachez.
Disclosure: We were not paid to host this giveaway —

I would hang it in our loft, which I am making over into a 2001: A Space Odyssey theme. Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

This would hang over my kitchen counter, which is the rare pattern Honey Beige formica from 1955-57 (which I only know from research on this page!) The design would look great with the squares in the pattern.
Tammy Long says
I would put it in my dining room above vintage dining table and chairs I recently bought on 1/2 price day at an estate sale. I have been debating between another Ikea light and one from West Elm.
Kay Goolsby says
I love this! Would hang it in our den/TV room.
Michael says
This would be amazing over my inherited dining table from my grandmother, and on full display in our 1962 all original home in NOLA, just waiting for that extra something to pull it all together.
Rose says
I have a new to me she shed that this would be perfect for!
Miya says
I would hang it somewhere that I could use it in open and also closed position for mood lighting.

My sister and I (in our sixties) now share a home. We are renovating the family room in the basement to be our mid century memories retreat. We are usng family pieces from that era along with photos and bits we find to achieve the look. We would love a hanging lamp to be the highlight of our room. Thanks for the chance to win.
Tisha says
I love this idea! It’s almost like a time machine. 🙂
BONNIE ELLIS says
I would hang this light in my groovy “craft room”-the spare bedroom in our house that showcases my daughter’s artwork, my 70’s hippy crafts, and any curiosities that follow me home!

Decisions, decisions. If it is rated for outdoor use on a covered patio, I will hang it over my patio seating area. If indoor only I will hang it over my kitchen table.
