[Entries now closed] Enter to win a custom house portrait by Christian Musselman

pam kueber - Updated: November 9, 2020

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

custom home portraitCongratulations to our winner Melissa, whose number came up when we spun the random. Thanks to everyone who entered — your comments were wonderful!!!! ENTRIES NOW CLOSED. And thanks to Christian Musselman for providing the giveaway prize!

Yesterday, Kate took you through the process of working with super-talented designer Christian Musselman to create a custom house portrait of her home. It turned out fabulously! Now, Christian is working with us to deliver a one-two punch by offering one lucky reader the chance to work with him to design a custom house portrait of their house. Continue reading to learn how to enter.

How to enter to win a custom house portrait from Christian Musselman:

  • To win, you must be a subscriber to our newsletter (Yes, this is “what’s in it for the blog” — you can opt out at any time after the contest ends, or continue on for the stories and because we like to do giveaways every now and then!)
  • Then, to enter, use the Comment field on this post below and tell us: What do you love about the exterior of your house — what features would you have Christian emphasize? Or, a happy whatever — we’re easy, the goal is joy.
  • One entry per person. U.S. and Canada residents eligible.
  • Entries close on Monday, May 23, 9 a.m.-ish Eastern — that is, we will close the Comments field at that time.
  • Prize: There will be one winner. The winner will then work with Christian per his process to create a custom home portrait. The winner also will receive a printed copy of the portrait (about the same size as Kate’s) mailed to their home. (Reader is responsible for their own framing and matting, if they so desire.) The process to complete the portrait may take 4-6 weeks, depending on the completeness of the photos provided, the winner’s responsiveness, and Christian’s schedule. The winner also must abide by Christian’s rights and reproduction policies, which he will communicate to the winner.
  • Pam will choose the winners via the Random Number Generator at random.org. She will email the winner. [Tip: Be sure you enter your email address correctly in the email field of the Comment form.] The winner will have five business days to respond. If we do not hear from them, we will choose the next person who commented. Lather, rinse, repeat. We will post the winner’s first name as soon as all is confirmed.
  • Terms of use apply.

Many thanks to Christian Musselman for hosting this awesome giveaway!

And, congrats to the winner of our last giveaway, Lynne, who won a pair of Bella Pamella aprons.

My home is a 1930 bungalow, and I love the sun porch windows that run across the front. I really like Christian Musselman’s work and would enjoy having one of my home in my home!

Our house has two “eyes” set into the brick. The kids have always loved fanatsing that our house was built by free masons and that the “eyes” we a symbol of something in their secret society!

Finally at 50 having my dream home. I am thankful every day and would love to have a portrait created of our western ranch.

I saw Christian Musselman featured in Atomic Ranch some time ago and have admired his portraits ever since. I’d love to have him do a portrait of my ’60 modest stone rancher but with my name- if I won nobody would ever believe the contest wasn’t rigged!

Oh, Christian, I love, love, love your portraits! I love the roof line of my ranch house and the original door with 3 square windows… along with the ribbon window in the front.

Our house is an original owner 1965 custom-built ranch with the most gorgeous roman brick I have ever laid my eyes on. The original owners took incredible care of it, and when they passed away in 2014 we got to be the next caretakers! 🙂

I love the red brick of my house. If there was one thing I would like emphasized in a portrait, it would be the scallop trim that goes around the entire house

What I love about our house is the bluestone front facade and how well it goes with the rough hewn cedar siding.

My favorite thing about the exterior of my home is the long flower bed that wraps under the front porch around around the side of the house. I planted knockout roses around the front porch and they are stunners! I let them grow taller than I should because I love looking out the front window and seeing them pop up from the other side of the porch. It’s a pink and red instant mood booster. I sometimes think that people might be judging our over-sized bushes, but they make me so happy, I just don’t care. 😉

Love this idea! I don’t know if an apartment building counts for the contest, but I live in a 1957 development that has 6 identical buildings, each with a funky V-shaped canopy at the entrance, which is my favorite part of the building. It helps that we’re surrounded by lovely landscaped grounds amidst the crowded urban-scape of NYC.
