What’s up? Another house on the Vintage Vegas Home & History Tour with some surprises inside…
… Like, a master bedroom with a round mirrored-ceiling and walls….
… in THE SAME ROOM, a sunken-style tub, also mirrored, and we kinda thought that pole on the outside edge would be for a …. ahem … dancer …
… still in the same room, a mirrored double-sink bathroom vanity …
… with two Kohler Man’s Lavs.
Story was, this house may have been a party house frequented by the Rat Pack. We hypothesized the original bed was round. What a master suite!

This showgirl chic, 1963 home was first owned by Gardner Greenman, who owned GiGi Women’s Clothing Store. Originally designed by Palmer & Krisel as a model 4B, the home was heavily renovated by Greenman during the late 60s and early 70s. Retired garment manufacturer Irving Alfasso took over the home from Greenman, and is rumored to have ties to Vegas’ Rat Pack entertainers. With mirrored walls, glass sliders along the back of the house, and ceilings that go on for miles, it’s easy to imagine…
Another of the bedrooms was more sedate: It featured upholstered walls — which I have always loved. All matchy-matchy to the headboard and coverlet, of course.
Much of the house had undergone renovations and additions over the years. But I’m thinking this cute green kitchen booth was original.
The property backed up to a golf course.
The exterior detailing was beautiful.
I loved the front door…
The Home Tour was on a beautiful day. Oh, the desert life!

I stayed in a ’70s motel with a mirrored ceiling over the bed once. I woke up in the morning and though a naked sky diver was falling through the roof.

I’m confused – why would you need a sprayer in your bathroom sink, much less in both sinks? It being Vegas where you’d want or need to shower to get the smoke off. But it’s fancier than the ones when you click the link.

To rinse dye out of your hair, whiskers and shaving cream or toothpaste out of the sink, and when you catch your kids trying to paint a balloon after you hear a pop behind the closed door of the bathroom. Much easier to aim the sprayer where you want the water to go with more force than trying to use the faucet, especially with the Lady Vanity version, which was larger and deeper.

You are sooo lucky I wasn’t drinking when I read that! And begs the question: just which side of the door were you on when this happened?

The outside! They had placed the balloon in the sink so it wouldn’t make a mess, and closed the door so I wouldn’t see what they were up to. When I opened the door, the older one just stepped into the tub, sliding the glass door closed. Had to bite my cheek to keep from laughing as I aimed the sprayer at the mirror and the sink to rinse the paint off before I washed it off of them.

I grew up with a tub and didn’t take a shower until high school. So my choices were to kneel in the tub with my head upside down or use the kitchen sink, again, upside down – both a pain in the neck. Maybe it was for the Pomeranian or Yorkie. Or more form over function.
Still, this sprayer from then is much more efficient than what is offered on the link today.

There is no excuse to go out of this house looking anything less than fabulous, considering the amount of mirrors here. 🙂 And if only all those mirrored walls could talk, imagine the stories they could tell!

They just had a Palmer Krisel home tour this past weekend in the valley (wasn’t able to go)..to launch the SF Valley conservancy (yay!)
Also, just popped into the Hallmark store & saw the ornament dream book & a new house ornament is going to be a cute split level. Should be coming out in July.

Black wasn’t part of the Kohler palette until 1972, so the cast iron fixtures and the gold Taboret taps are from then at the earliest. I would really place the master bedroom closer to 1980 because this looks late modernist/disco-era Art Deco revival.
Then, there’s the oak Edwardian/Arts&Crafts inspired millwork in the entry and the kitchen behind the banquette, and the six panel closet doors in the master.
The upholstered all matching bedroom with the ruched headboard is 1980s, I’d think, but it seems like a compatible update to the 60s regency of the original house.
Overall I think its been pretty heavily altered on the interior, not too much of a time capsule here, except for the exterior, which would be very difficult to alter.

I love the mirrored features in this house! I’d think those details are more from the 1970s most likely. Is that concrete block on the side of the garage?

Yes, I confirmed with the present owner. There was a round bed at one time.

LOL! What fun! I wonder if the upholstered bedroom has matching robe and jammies for complete camouflage! However the most eyebrow-raising for me was in that mirrored bath/master suite: Battenburg curtains around the tub?! Did I already say LOL?
