The unofficial theme of the week is: What projects and crafties can I do to avoid doing my taxes. Over the weekend, a friend came over to get my help with an embroidery project. She wanted to make sunflowers, so I finally tore open the wrapping of the New Old Stock Bucilla “Studio Twelve” Flower Looms that I bought on ebay, like, 10 years ago. The little sunflower turned out so well that I went on a Bucilla flower-making spree all weekend! So much fun!
What will I do with all of them (and I keep making more!)?
What should I do with them??? Ideas welcome!
I found lots of videos on this youtube channel for making variations.
Looms like this seem to be made new today (I see them on Amazon), but if I buy any more, I will surely go for vintage — there are even squares! — and from a variety of olde companies — all spotted on ebay.

In 1973, when I was eight years old, my mom made a beautiful afghan from these. Yellow and green and white, and very seventies! The little daisies are the connectors for the four big daisies around it. We still have that afghan, and I still have the plastic forms. Love them!

Ohhhhh, the little daisies are connectors for the four big daisies — thanks for that tip!!!

Back in 1973 when my daughter was born, my aunt made the prettiest baby quilt for her in pastels. Just a simple front and back sewn together and instead of tying with yarn, she used the pastel daisies every few inches. It was almost solid flowers.

Put them on the Christmas tree. If they’ll clash with the big fancy tree just do another one. I do six trees, different themes, it’s Santas forest.
Flowers on the evergreen tree are cool, that promise of spring thing.
You’ll need a lot to really make a tree great, but I have faith in you Pam. :- D You seem to understand the wretched excess school of Christmas decor.

A wreath, obviously!

I like garlands. Also, can you substitute strips of fabric, twine, ribbon, metallic cording?

i love this thing, i remember my sister had one when i was little and i was not allowed to touch it. it reminds me of granny square vests, which said sister has promised to crochet me one for my next birthday. if a 50 year old woman can get away with wearing a granny square vest it’s going to be me!!!

You could make some out of the non-paper ribbon raffia and affix them to baskets like the wonderful old ones that had fruit and flowers that were used to carry casseroles. I was going to do this, eventually, when I have time! I would love to see readers’ crewel projects! I LOVE crewel but have never tried it. I would love to learn how!

Sew them together to make a funky scarf or shawl. Or go even bigger and make a groovy blanket. I’ve seen similar things done with crocheted flowers.
