Magic Chef Retro Edition small refrigerator — in mint, red, and white

Pam Kueber - Updated: October 14, 2021

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

magic chef 4.4 cu. ft. mini refrigeratorBrand new to the market: A small refrigerator with retro styling, the Magic Chef Retro Edition Refrigerator. Thanks to Colleen for this tip, and the photo above. She writes: Cutie patootie refrigerator I saw in Home Depot this weekend.” Cutie patootie indeed!

Available in Mint … Red … and … White …

Note, at $300 to $349, this retro style refrigerator looks to cost about double a plain version. But… cutie patootie! Thanks so much, Colleen, for this tip!

2021 update: There are quite a few refrigerators like this on the market today. For an update on where to find family-sized retro refrigerators, check out my story here.

Wow! Thank you Pam and Colleen for posting this! …. Our new Mint mini-fridge is on it’s way upstairs ( now my bedroom coffee bar will have cold cream and other breakfast goodies) . I do want to give a “heads up” and that is to get ’em now while the gettin’s good. It seems as though these are a limited edition just for Home Depot’s “Black Friday Sale” ( even though Black Friday is still a few weeks away). We purchased it for $198.00 on sale!!

Yes, I just got a flyer in the mail yesterday for Home Depot’s “Black Friday” sale, $ 198 with the notation “while supplies last”.

Until just-this-very-moment I was unaware of my great need for a tiny, expensive refrigerator in the basement rec room that I haven’t even built yet.

They should take these full-sized! I do wish they were cheaper on the minis though.

Lovely. Just wish they had the creamy yellow color.

      Me too.

I’m afraid this is rather an odd duck size that won’t do well for that reason alone, then Magic Chef will erroneously conclude this isn’t something the market wants. A full-sizer, retro job in the same color range at a realistic ($1,000.00 to $1,500.00ish) price would have me literally racing to Home Depot.

These are lovely. Well done. The colors are perfect. I hope they are planning a full size version.

Cute as can be for sure. I would gladly pay that for it, as long as it ran right! We frequent a 50’s motel with original pastel colored tiled bathrooms, and every room we have stayed in has a mini fridge that freezes everything in it. And they aren’t all made by the same manufacturer. I hope Magic Chef got it right. Wish I had a place or need for one!

I don’t suppose this is small enough to fit under my bar. That’s where I need a new fridge. I guess I could cut a hole out of the counter top to make it fit. Would look great in mint.

Nope, Home Depot says it’s meant to be free standing not built in or recessed.

There’s a 1.6 cu ft igloo fridge on Amazon; in fact a lot of retro styled mini fridges. Who knew?
