Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.
I am suddenly feeling the intense need to buy and renovate a little vintage camper and to take to the road with Sisters on the Fly. Alas, I do dearly love my DH, and my dog, so … we’ll see.
You wouldn’t have posted if you weren’t interested in this in some way. Maybe this will be a Weebit adventure when she gets so far in college and before fiance/career/family comes along. Regret doing it , don’t regret NOT doing it and wondering “what if?”

Also, it gives you an outlet for your retro-redecorating urges when you house is finished.

I think every woman, married or single, needs some “sister” time, and this seems to be a good way to do it.

Every fiber in my body wants to do this! Love my husband, but we’ve worked together for 23 years of our 32 year marriage…THIS is what I need to do…period. Thanks so much for posting…I’m retiring soon and would love to restore a small camper…my only learning curve will be the whole backing up with a trailer deal. Stand clear!

Some friends and I discussed this on Facebook over the weekend. We want the creativity and the trailers, but none of us enjoy fishing, so our camping will include crafting, books, and long, leisurely walks. Dogs and cats will be permitted (one of us also has rabbits), and you must own at least one tiara. We’re busy thinking up trailer decor themes while we wait to win the lottery so we can afford everything!

Books and doggies! May I please join your group?

This looks so cool and so much more my speed than the stupid Red Hat Society. Alas, the only camper I can haul with my MINI Cooper is a tiny teardrop trailer. They’re really cool and really retro, but the ones I could haul are so tiny all you can do is sleep in them.

I’m with you going this route unless/until you buy cowboy boots and prom dresses. Astro is probably a good traveler/camper if you’d give him a chance. A lot of campers coming up for sale at season’s end. If you don’t want to commit, there are probably trailers you can rent to dip your toe in the water. Or borrow and set up in your backyard with its back to the house.

You know just watching this video makes you ask yourself, when is it going to be, “me time?”
GO FOR IT PAMELA!!
I have a 1968 30′ Airstream. I saved 15 years so I could buy an Airstream when I retired. I’M RETIRED!!
There are a lot of groups (organizations) available to travel with you when it’s time to take her on the road.
However, this video looks like its right up my alley!
THANKS Pamela!!

Thank you for posting this, Pam. I sent it on to my sister-in-law who recently bought an Airstream Flying Cloud.
