If you need new — or replacement — tile in mid century colors, there’s a new player — playing it big! — in our retro world! Make It Mid Century is now stocking an extensive line of 4-1/4″ square wall tile for bathrooms and kitchens.
The tile comes in a wide array of colors. There are many retro classics including Mamie pink, light pink, some light blues, a buttercreamy-looking yellow, minty seafoam green — even lilac! — and more. Make It Mid Century now becomes one of my top recommendations for places to find 4×4-ish retro ceramic wall tile in retro and vintage colors!
Coordinating trim tiles also available
Owner Susan Halla tells me she also carries available trim pieces. “Yes, we carry every possible size and trim type,” she said. “Some colorways have more options than others, but they are all listed under each color on our website, including images of each tile size and trim piece so you can visualize which parts are which.”
Susan said that she will work personally with you to pull together your order and find the best shipping price too.
It seems to me that considering all these factors, the pricing is competitive — I’d personally put them in the “very reasonable” category. But, I’ll let you shop around and make your own decision.
Susan told me that the line of tiles she carries are made by another company for Nemo Tile. Nemo also offers a number of same tiles for sale, but Susan has a number of colors that you don’t see on Nemo’s website. Seems like Susan really sought out the retro colors — her company is “Make It Mid Century” after all!
A second line of 4×4 tiles that includes tiles specified for floors
Susan also alerted me that she also can provide a second line of 4×4 tiles not shown on her website. She told me:
Ceramica Vogue’ System line is another place that carries true 4” x 4” (not 4 ¼”). (Actually, since it’s an Italian line, it’s in centimeters.). They have some good colors, including a pink and purple. They also carry four different finishes, including some appropriate for flooring (although not in all colors). We can procure these tiles for interested customers.
How to get these mid century color tiles:
- Check out Make It Mid Century’s website here. Susan suggests emailing directly with detailed parts and quantities to get a custom quote based on current shipping prices.
- Also note: Make It Mid Century offers a coordinating line of decorative accent tiles too!
Thanks, Make It Mid Century, for making it easier than ever to find tile in real color-colors for our mid century kitchens and bathrooms!
