7 great retro holiday craft tutorials — Merry Kitschmas fun

In the past few years, we’ve built up a collection of quite a few Kitschmas Krafty tutorials — eight so far — ranging from cheap, cheerful and quick to our more time consuming, yet very rewarding projects — like vintage Christmas ornament wreaths. We’ll pulled them into this handy dandy deck the halls guide — time to get retro crafty!

1. Vintage Christmas ornament wreath

2. Ornament wreath using new Christmas ornaments

No hoard of vintage ornaments hiding in the attic? Get the look of a vintage Christmas ornament wreath using new ornaments you can buy at Target, Big Lots, Michaels, Kmart and Home Goods.

3. 1-2-3-EZ ornament wreath

Pam invented this nearly foolproof 1-2-3-EZ wreath — our tutorial is in the works. But as you can see, this wreath uses (1) ornaments along the outer ring and (if you like) inner ring… (2) three focal points… and (3) “polka dot” ornaments to perk up the tinsel. This one is  faster and almost foolproof, as long as you (1) have good, strong focal points and (2) control your color harmony.

 4. Shadow box dioramas using vintage Christmas ornament boxes

Don’t throw away all those vintage cardboard Christmas ornament boxes when you are done making vintage ornament wreaths — save them to decorate and make shadow box dioramas.

With just a little greenery, a log from the wood pile and a few other bits, you can make a festive and fun retro holiday yule log centerpiece.

7. Mini Peacock tree

Here’s another quick and easy Kitschmas crafty that you can complete in just 5 minutes — a mini peacock style tree made from glittery pipe cleaners. This is a great retro crafty project for the weebits.
