UPDATE: Gerber nope, no more. But you can get from Peerless, see THIS STORY.
Old story:
Get ready for some big bathroom news: We have just confirmed that, indeed, plumbing fixture manufacturer Gerber still produces one model of pink toilet and sink. The toilet is low-flow. Pam wrote about this company a while back in her story Gerber toilets and sinks in vintage colors — but at that time, we were told (or misunderstood) that the Bahama Pink color had been discontinued and would only be available until the remaining stock had been sold. But, following up on a recent tip from reader Amber, who was avidly looking for a low-flow pink toilet, we have been communicating with Gerber and, again, we confirm: You can still get one style of toilet and one bathroom sink in Bahama Pink — along with nine other retro vintage colors — all still being manufactured and marketed for sale today.
Super thanks to reader Amber, who commented on our original story about Gerber:
I called Gerber and they do make a pink toilet! It is Bahama Pink (not Sea Shell as in the image in this post). I asked if they could send me a sample and she gave me the number of the local rep, who I will be calling today after I get off work! As I told my husband… I am hot on the trail of a pink toilet!
Amber, Pam says that if you email her, she will mail you one of her Save The Pink Bathroom collages — a reward for your pink potty private-eye-ing.
Toilet and sink in 10 retro colors
I contacted Gerber Public Relations contact Linda Bendt, who supplied photos of the Bahama Pink fixtures and confirmed that the Viper toilet is offered in this color. For some reason, the website only shows that it is available in white, but Linda assured me that this Viper toilet model can be ordered in Bahama Pink.
Linda also told me that Gerber offers a matching pink lav sink — the Rotunda style, model number 12-894-21 — shown as available in several colors on the website.
I asked Linda whether any other retro vintage pastel colors were available in these styles, and heck to the yeah, she said that both the Viper toilet and the Rotunda 12-894-21 can be ordered in these colors, all still being manufactured today:
- British Biscuit
- Bahama Pink
- Jamaican Beige
- Silver
- Bone
- Dawn Blue
- Almond
- Citron Yellow
- Regal Blue
- Spanish gold
Where to see this pink toilet and sink
The most frustrating aspect of this discovery is the lack of readily available color samples. Linda said they couldn’t send me a sample of the Bahama Pink and I found only one dealer in my area that carries Gerber products. I called to inquire if they had a sample of the Bahama Pink in their showroom but they did not. The person I spoke with said they would try to get a sample of the pink from their Gerber dealer for me to see in person and compare to my B&W pink tile. He also mentioned that Kohler makes a lighter pink line of fixtures in Innocent Blush — though I suspect it is a much lighter pink than what was originally popular in the 50s and 60s. Bottom line — if you are in the market for a new pink toilet for your bathroom remodel or restoration — the Gerber Bahama Pink may be a match. I’ll continue to try to find a sample to verify this, so stay tuned.
We are also working with our contact at Kohler to get glamour shots of their pink fixtures in Innocent Blush.

My Gerber Bahama Pink toilet was delivered today! I ordered it on decorisland.com on Tuesday. It is low flow 1.28 and ADA/comfort height. Viper model. There is only one model in the colors now. I found this website to be very good and they have matching toilet seats made by “Church.” I checked a huge number of websites and bricks and mortar stores and this was the only place I found it.
pam kueber says
Cool! How do you like the pink? Will you send me some photos when it is installed???? Thank you!
Mary Elizabeth says
Wow! I just talked to two local plumber supply places, and one had a Gerber representative with them the day I called. They both said that Gerber did NOT make the Viper comfort height model in Bahama Pink and had no plans of doing so. What is the deal? I am going to that website and check it out toute suite!
Mary Elizabeth says
Follow up. Just spoke with Joe at DecorIsland.com. (I had to speak to a real person, because I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the website.) The Bahama Pink (which he calls “Bahama mama” pink, LOL) is indeed available in the Viper Ergoheight, and I ordered the last one they have in stock. They are ordering more. He said it is a brand new item. I find it unbelievable that the representatives from Gerber aren’t even aware that this model and color are available. Now I am praying that nothing breaks in transit. DH is working now on the vanity with the new drop-in sink and the retro Formica top. I’m so happy, I could. . .well, you know. 🙂 Our anniversary is coming up soon, and with a Bahama Pink toilet, who needs roses?

Wow. I saw this about decor island.com and ordered a toilet from them. I grew concerned when their emails to me were ill written, now my credit card has fraud charges on it. I didn’t read on line about them until after I ordered, I assumed that since people here had good luck then I would too. Just to put a warning out to people. I had to cancel my card from them to keep them from possibly doing more damage than they already had. Just an FYI.
pam kueber says
Thank you for your comment, Crystal. I called decorisland.com and asked them if they would like to respond.
crystal fritts says
Pam, they called and left a voicemail. I can’t take any calls at this time. We will see if the toilet I ordered arrives. I read the previews of this company after I saw the multiple small charges come in on my card today, the same day they charged my card. I guess we will see if 1) I get the toilet in a timely manner and 2) I have cancelled my card so these other charges will fall off (they are ‘pre-charges’) and to keep my card from being used in the future. I am very leary of ordering off random sites and should have researched them first. Also the emails I have gotten from them are illiterate at the very least, with mis-spellings and incomplete thoughts. That was my first ‘red’ clue until the charges came through. I will follow up if I ever get the toilet. Thank you!

Just a heads up that I had to buy Gerber replacement parts for my 1.6 gal tank – the “universal” flush valve, something else, and the gasket between the tank and toilet didn’t work in the Gerber. Unfortunately the plumbing store sold me the smaller Gerber gasket when I needed the huge 3″ gasket. Went ahead and used the old gasket to bring to an end 2.5 days of trying to do a simple toilet fix myself. I’ll never buy a Gerber toilet after all that.

I am very excited about this information! Now if only we could find a vendor that makes cinderella bathtubs, I could start on our bathroom facelift.

If you live in or near Pittsburgh, PA, Construction Junction always seems to have pink sinks and toilets. They won’t be low flow, but you might find one that will go perfectly in your bathroom.
Kate says
Wow. What a coincidence. I live in a mid ’80’s condo that had three original toilets. Two were leaking so my landlord replaced them and had the plumber install white elongated Gerber Viper’s. We’ve had them for less than a week and we really like them. They are low flow yet they flush well. I know these elongated toilets wouldn’t be appropriate in a period bathroom, but if anyone is wondering about the mechanics of these toilets, they seem to work well.

Thanks for the report, Kate!

Get a load of the Fawn Beige asymmetrical oval sink with hoodee ring in the first bathroom picture. Want. I also love the Gourmet Melon kitchen sink at the end of the brochure.

THIS brochure is wonderful!!

Love that brochure! I want to wear the up-do and white feathers! 🙂
For some reason, I would not trust sitting on a toilet attached to the wall, even though it’s a very streamlined look. But that’s just me. LOL.
Robin, NV says
Jeanne – OMG, I know!! No wall hung toilets for me either. It’s probably easy to clean under though.

I was really bummed to find out that Gerber doesn’t sell colored fixtures to Texas residents and the customer service rep. couldn’t tell me why. So bummed….

Why do they discriminate against the Lone Star state? Is it something left over from the War Between the States?

For those of you who have to replace a perfectly good older toilet because you need a higher ADA toilet, here’s what I did – I bought a “toilet riser” that sits UNDER the toilet. I have a very small bathroom with the original 1962 American Standard toilet with the square base. Most of the new toilets are kind of big and I didn’t fancy having to put my feet in the bathtub. And I HATE those risers that sit on top of the seat. Besides, the old toilet, although it’s a wasteful 3 gallon flush, works perfectly and matches the rest of the bathroom. So I ordered the square toilet riser thing-y and had my plumber install it. I think that you can paint it if you need to, but my old American Standard is white.
I was very excited to solve my tall toilet/mid century bathroom problem but oddly enough, nobody wants to hear about it. LOL But I thought I might chance bringing it up on this board…
pam kueber says
You know we are interested in all such things here! We’ll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Loralei, one of the reasons this site exists is to allow those of us who want to talk about colorful “potties” a forum to do so. I am so grateful to Pam and Kate for keeping the conversation going. And I love your solution to the 17″ height thing. (Some brands do come in 17″ without the elongated seat, for those who don’t like them, but I don’t know about the colors.) That would be a good solution for those who can’t get the color they want in a new toilet and want to keep the old one.
Now here’s the real “potty talk.” My DH is not a plumber, but he was trained in a trade school and does all his own plumbing and electrical, including a new addition to our house. He says that if you are concerned about the amount of water the old toilet uses, you can buy a replacement flush valve that gives you a button with two settings, solid and liquid. Ask a plumbing supply store about it and if you can’t do the work yourself, ask a plumber to do it. The old toilets are designed so they need all that water to move solid waste, but they do not need it for liquid. And since we most often flush liquid, this would save a lot of water over the course of the year.
Jane / MulchMaid says
How cool is that! Mary Elizabeth, you have probably done many people (who don’t want to replace their old toilet) a great service with this information!
lisamc says
Can you tell me where you found the toilet riser? I’m thinking of having the tile-man buildone but figure your way could be less expensive. I’m how it looks, can you post a photo? Thank you!
