We have a huge (14′) window in our living room that looks out on the world. This would look awesome on the wall of shelves I am planning. Plus, I always wanted one when I was a kid and my mom would never get one!

My college roommate brought a lava lamp to our freshman dorm room. This was in the mid-90s when Lava Lamps were experiencing a bit of a comeback. In yesterday’s post you said that the Lava Lamp advertised itself as a trippy alternative to drugs, but this particular roommate did drugs anyway.

My memories of lava lamps … I can’t tell you ’cause it involved illegal activities. Yeah, I’m a child of the 60’s.

My sister and brother-in-law had a lava lamp when they got married back in the 60’s. I was just a kid and I was so jealous.

I live in a fifty five Detroiter! I am a vintage baby the whole long way!
I’d use that lovely gem of a lamp right in my living room for all to see!!! Right in the front window!!!

I just bought my first vintage home. It was built in 1950 and we already have a 1950 Ford Custom in our driveway. I think a 50th anniversary would be a perfect addition to our retro renovation home!

I would put this lava lamp in our Retro Lounge. I already have a small one in there, but would love a full-sized one!

A Lava Lamp would look amazing on my Brasilia chest. I would set it up on a timer so that the lava would be flowing by the time I got home from work and getting into my chill mode.

Although I was the right age, I never got to own a Lava Lamp when I was younger. I do have a fond memory of a Lava Lamp, though. When I went with my fiance (now husband) to meet his grandmother, she brought us into her living room and rushed over to plug in her Lava Lamp. She always did her best for her guests!
And I’ll anwer the other question, too. If I won this beauty, I’d give it to my 20 year-old daughter for her bedroom in our mid-century condo. It would be so groovy in there!

This is not my oldest Lava Lamp memory but it is my best one! My son, who is now 26, had a very unusual Christmas list for Santa when he was 7 years old. There were only 2 items on it: a plaid sports coat and a Lava Lamp! Try finding a plaid sport coat for a little boy in 1994… we did and he still has the Lava Lamp today in his apartment. Even back then he was a gentleman and a ladies man, still is 🙂
