Whirlpool Sunset Bronze: This new kitchen appliance color will go on sale this fall

Pam Kueber - Updated: August 18, 2021

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

Bronze applianceWhirlpool Sunset Bronze kitchen appliances: Yes, the company has introduced this color and it will be available for purchase this fall. We first wrote this possible introduction a year and a half ago, and got 200 comments from people who eagerly wanted this warm color for their kitchen. Whirlpool was coy about whether it would actually introduce the color, but howdy hudee: Here it is. I like it because it reminds me of: vintage coppertone appliances. Whirlpool says the color, which is “achieved by color blocking painted stainless steel, is a perfect blend of gold, copper and bronze tones.”

BuilderOnline.com, which was at the show where this announcement was made, reported that the suite would be available on Whirlpool’s French door refrigerator, built-in dishwasher, over range microwave, and range oven.

BuilderOnline.com also talked to the company’s color manager for finishes, and reported that the company wanted to “soften the design of its appliances” and make them less industrial looking. It’s hygee time for kitchen appliances, tee hee!

The finish is also fingerprint proof. But it’s still stainless steel underneath, so that means no magnets on the fridge. Pooh. Now that would be cozy!

I have been watching and waiting two years for the Whirlpool Sunset Bronze kitchen suite. Where can I order these appliances?

Would love to see these in person! I called whirlpool 10/5/17 and they apologized that 1) No showroom in the world has them and 2) they will not start shipping until February 2018. Trying to get a pre-order in with Ferguson Appliance, waiting for sales rep to check for me when we can submit an order.

I called Ferguson Newport News, Va store 2 days ago and they said they will not get it. They told me the color changes dependng on where you put it in your room and I would imagine lighting has an effect. Very disappointed.

Can’t seem to get an answer “WHEN” I can actually put an order in for this “Sunset Bronze” at whirlpool?

Doubt that any retailer will take your pre-order since whirlpool has been so vague when it will be available. Now its Feb!

FEB!!! that means I will need to wash dishes by hand til then.
I don’t understand why Whirlpool can’t put out a news release or at least a response on their website about this new delay!
If I wasn’t so in love with this new color I would boycott Whirlpool!

I was told now it is not debuting until February 2018. There is a delay with other Whirpool products which delayed Sunset Bronze. I’m very disappointed and frustrated as I have also been waiting. It is not fair to introduce a “new color” and two years later it is still not available. There is just nothing out there that appeals to me as I want a softer look with my country home. If anyone finds out any different, please let us know-but can you “believe” what you hear!

I’ll believe it when I see it! Been waiting 2 years. My dishwasher died about 6 months ago and I refused to get it repaired because the new appliances were coming any day now! Today is the first day of fall. Can we expect to see them soon. My Lowes and Home Depot have NO info.

I see it for sale at Best Buy: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/whirlpool-24-top-control-built-in-dishwasher-with-stainless-steel-tub-sunset-bronze/5796503.p?skuId=5796503&ref=212&loc=1&ksid=101f612c-475c-40ba-9101-b803bcb69a18&ksprof_id=13&ksaffcode=pg199347&ksdevice=c&lsft=ref:212,loc:2

just called best buy…..this product is not available. I suggested they remove it from their website so we all don’t get overly excited!
But it is encouraging that they have given it a product #! That means that it is in or near production.
This is really getting old now!

Please, please, please hurry with the new Sunset Bronze line… now that the rest of our kitchen is done with a remodel, we really need these to give it the finishing touch!

I don’t care what you call the era or the time frame associated with this new color. I have had my eye on this color being released ever since I became aware that it was a possible option a couple years ago. I have reached out to Whirlpool home office a few times, and was never able to obtain a precise release date or even if it would happen. I like several other people that have posted comments on various websites, have delayed the purchase of new appliances. I can’t wait to see the new color in person. If the color is as wonderful as it appears on the internet. I will be one of the first in line to purchase the entire line.

I have been waiting and waiting for the Sunset Bronze. My lake home has the oak cabinets and the other finishes just don’t make it!! I have never liked stainless steel – too industrial for me.

I will continue to check with the appliance store. Would love to see a sample of the new color.

Hooray – so you should be able to get it now!

Wow! Finally! I’ve been stalking this Sunset gold color for two years. I even delayed my kitchen remodel in hopes that it would go into manufacture. I see it as a wonderfully warm alternative to the commercial coldness of stainless still. Very pleased for a new choice.
