Final report, Saturday, June 8: Congratulations to Kristin, Jenny, and Margie — our three winners, all confirmed! Thanks, everyone, for playing! ENTRIES NOW CLOSED.
It’s giveaway time — and this time, there will be three winners! Once I started talking with the owner of Bauer Pottery about the mid mod mad Brayton Laguna cats the company is now making from original 1960s molds, it seemed like a no-brainer that a giveaway would follow. And indeed, Bauer Pottery is generously offering to send one of these sleek sculptures to three winners. Choose your color!

How to enter to win:
- To win, you must be a subscriber to our newsletter (Yes, this is “what’s in it for the blog” — you can opt out at any time after the contest ends, or continue on for the stories and other, occasional giveaways.)
- To enter, use the Comment field below and tell us something about these cool cats — which color would you choose, why do you like them… or tell us whatever, this is all for fun.
- You can enter once per day now through Monday, June 3, 6 p.m., when entries close. (You only need to subscribe to the newsletter once, though!)
- U.S. and Canada only.
- Prize: There will be three winners. Each winner will receive one cat, in one of the five stock colors of their choice, directly from Bauer Pottery.
- Pam will choose the winners via the Random Number Generator at random.org. I will check if the ‘winner’ is a newsletter subscriber. I will email the winner. [Tip: Be sure you enter your email address correctly in the email field of the Comment form.] The winner will have five business days to respond. If I do not hear from them, I will choose the next person after who commented. Lather, rinse, repeat. I will post the winner’s first name as soon as all is confirmed.
- Terms of use apply.
Thank you so much, Bauer Pottery (see all the cool cats and their full product line here)!

Love the sleek design and beautiful, modern simplicity of these pieces. Would be tough to choose a colour since they’re all so great, but I’ll happily meet that challenge if I’m selected as one of the winners. ?
Beth says
Oh my, I love cats and MCM. One of these cats would be a great addition to my modern decor.
Alyssa says
I think I like the teal the most. Our living room is orange, and it would really pop! And later, I can move it into the tiki lounge I hope to have one day.
Andrea says
Whoa. I didn’t even know I how much I wanted one of these black cuties until I saw your post. Now I already can see him sitting in my living room so I can gaze upon his greatness every day!
Dana B. says
I think maybe I would like a black one, like my cat Angus.
———————–
A ghost, though invisible, still is like a place
your sight can knock on, echoing; but here
within this thick black pelt, your strongest gaze
will be absorbed and utterly disappear:
just as a raving madman, when nothing else
can ease him, charges into his dark night
howling, pounds on the padded wall, and feels
the rage being taken in and pacified.
She seems to hide all looks that have ever fallen
into her, so that, like an audience,
she can look them over, menacing and sullen,
and curl to sleep with them. But all at once
as if awakened, she turns her face to yours;
and with a shock, you see yourself, tiny,
inside the golden amber of her eyeballs
suspended, like a prehistoric fly.

“These are. Again!” Answers Bauer Pottery
Well these might be new, but being made from the original molds makes them super cool! They are more of a continuation, not a reproduction!
I think the off white would look great on the blonde console stereo…
At $95, they’re barely two tanks of gas. So if I lose, I can still pretend I won and buy whichever.
By the way, I’m assuming I’m signed up, as I get the emails of new posts.

Wow! Meow! I’m a mid-century lover And a cat lover, so this would be perfect in my 1954 cape cod. It’s hard to choose a color, so ima gonna say green!
Maya says
Very sleek cat! I’d love one in black, like my own cat.
Allison says
Merciful heavens, how to choose a color of these fabulous cats!
If I had to settle on one, I’d choose the orange, just because it would pop so well against the aquas and greens in my MCM living room. Bauer glazes are so gorgeous; I have a few other pieces of Bauer pottery and they are much treasured.
These cats are so elegant; kitteh at her most arrogant and appealing, and this iconic form has captured the essense of an era.
thank you so much for bringing them back to life.

I love the styling of the Brayton Laguna cat – they actually remind of the infamous Eames House Bird! And of course, I would the black cat because they go with everything!
