Update: Congrats to winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!
So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions
I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!
In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:
Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

I’m really tickled to find this blog. Love the mid-century modern everything. Phx. is a mecca for it. I’ll be checking in from now on. Who wouldn’t feel some holiday spirit with a wreath like that? Fran

Oh! This will be the year of happy colorful decorations! I’ve been collecting ornaments, and the tutorial to make one of these wreaths will be perfect if I’m not the lucky one to win. Either way, it’s all good!

Just bought a house that could be straight out of Mad Men.
One owner since it was built 50 years ago and pretty much everything original except some flooring. So, yes! I would love to see this vintage wreath on my door!

I have used up the space on the branches of my silver aluminum Christmas tree with the vintage ornaments I have collected and been given over the years. What a great way to continue to display more of them. Thanks!

When my brothers and I were little, we used to “squinch” our eyes and “waggle” our heads while looking at our colorfully lit Christmas tree. Such a light show it was.
HOW TO’s:
Squinch- squint your eyes, then smile really hard to bring up your cheeks.
Waggle- moving your head a little like a bobber, then add more emphasis on almost bringing each ear to its shoulder. Not too hard, and adding a little bit of squirm works best.
Always best with holiday tunes.
Hope you give it a try this holiday season….it’ll keep the youngsters busy a while too.
