Update: Congrats to winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!
So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions
I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!
In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:
Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

I love the Shiny Brite ornaments! I have my childhood ornaments and love using them on the tree each year. One of these wreaths would look great to go with the tree in our ’47 bungalow!!!

I’ve had my eye on one of these wreaths for at least a year now. It sure would look amazing at the front door of my freshly painted mid century home!

When I was a little girl I thought that “heaven” was a place where you hung out with Santa, painted glitter on ornaments, made toys, and ate cookies all day. These wreathes bring me back to that fuzzy feeling- love it!!

Love this wreath! I need it for my “new” 1962 NW Contemporary home in Edmonds. Boy……..50 years of dirt and grime, but the house is starting to shine!

Ah, the wreath brings up so many warm and fuzzy memories. It’s amazing how most of us can remember childhood objects that make us feel happy, even if our actual family lives were…well, sometimes a little weird. I don’t have too many of my mother’s old ornaments, but I did save one that SHE saved, which came from a flower arrangement she received when my brother (her firstborn) was born: a small fuzzy white stork with long orange wire legs and paper beak. He had almost disintegrated over the years, but I was able to gently restore him to what I think was his original appearance, so he is still part of my Christmas tree! There – – how do you like that for warm and cheery? Best I can do — HA! Steph
P.S. If I win the wreath, I hope shipping is included — I think shipping is the new Mafia racket!!)
Correction from previous post: Umm…I meant the stork had almost disintegrated — not my brother!
