Update: Congrats to winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!
So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions
I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!
In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:
Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

Oh, to be greeted by an ornament wreath during the holidays! Reminds me of decorating our tree in the 60s. Great fun and memories.

I lOvE LoVe LOVE these! On that note…My friend is giving me her Christmas tree from the 1950’s and 60’s that her family used for years and years — complete with all of the decorations from back then!! I can’t wait! It should be a real raZZle DaZZLE time gazing upon the vintage tinsel and felt Santas — not to mention twisting the little reindeer made of pipe-cleaners back into shape — talk about a flashback to my childhood! WoW! It’s going to be a HOLLeY JOLLY CHRISTMAS!

If I could win that wreath I’d be as happy as a bird with a french fry.

Reminds me of my wonderful mother who died when I was young. Every time I see this wreath it makes me smile and think of her!
Robin Sisler says
Wow! That looks fantastic. It would look great in a 1950’s ranch!
K. Henderson says
I’ve been lusting after one of these. It will look great in my home.

Great day today for a vintage find. Driving by a vintage shop today I spied an 1950’s child’s rocker/bouncer with large ducks on either side of the seat. I made a U-turn to check it out and found it was in great condition so I bought it fat a very reasonable price or my 7 month old grandson. Can’t wait to have him try it out this weekend.

I would like one all in silver with brooches as the only pops of color

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas! I know that this wreath would certainly look terrific with my vintage aluminum tree!! Thanks for the blog.
