Update: Congrats to winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!
So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions
I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!
In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:
Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

Here I was trying to do important things like pay bills and answer emails, and then you posted this and I was all OMG SPARKLY PRETTIES, WANT WANT WANT!
Thanks for the distraction. And if I’m not lucky enough to win, thanks for the link on how to make my own! I often find slightly imperfect ornaments at thrift/vintage stores, but their imperfections would be much less noticeable if grouped together into a wreath!

Love the wreath! So beautiful and colorful.

It’s a beautiful wreath and I’d love to have it join in the festivites. It will be our first Christmas here in the new house and with us moving from a snowy climate to Florida I will be having to over do the decorations to get in the spirit.

This is the most beautiful wreath! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to try and win it! It would be a great christmas present for my husband and I. We are both retro renovation fans 🙂 My grandfather made one of the awesome christmas trees made out of red velvet, smashed up sprite bottles, rhinestone earrings and broken necklaces, back in the 60s. Every Christmas I look forward to him hanging it above their fireplace. This wreath really reminds me of it, the colors, fun and classic retro Christmas style!
