Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

shiny-brite-holiday-wreathe-georgia-peachezUpdate: Congrats to  winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!

So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. YUP: One week contest now “live” to Win this Wreath. Click on through for the rules and to enter ->

How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions

I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!

In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:

Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

It is a beautiful gloriuos fall day here in Portland, Oregon! I am enjoying the sunshine on my first day off work in 39 days! Would love to have the wreath in the niche above my fireplace in my 30’s house.

We moved in to our MCM home last October with grand aspirations of returning it to it’s former 1957 glory. I would LOVE this wreath to hang on my front door to show all the neighbors where we are taking this home on he inside. I just get giddy thinking about it!!!! Whoo Hooo!!!!

I live in a small senior center and holidays are a special time here. One man in particular loves to decorate the community room and he and the others would be over the moon about this happy-making wreath. Merry Christmas a little bit early to all!
