shiny-brite-holiday-wreathe-georgia-peachezUpdate: Congrats to  winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!

So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. YUP: One week contest now “live” to Win this Wreath. Click on through for the rules and to enter ->

How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions

I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!

In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:

Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

My husband and I just bought our first house! A 1959 Mid Century ‘Modest’ Ranch with a LOT of work to do! No more shabby rented accommodation for us though!

This year we will be having the family stay with us for Christmas- we have NEVER hosted a Christmas before, so this wreath would be a perfect addition to our perfect-for-us new home!

    Stay Glamorous!

My happy news: the freshening up of our ’50s home is finally complete! The wreath would look so lovely on our turquoise front door. And yes, we kept our beautiful tile bathrooms as is; one pink, one green. Still looking for a pink sink to replace the hideous faux marble one the previous owners installed . . .

What a beautiful wreath and it would look amazing on the front door of the 1964 Ranch I am about to move into. Finishing up those hardwood floors and then we can really start moving things in. PS: I kept the pink laminate countertops and the tiny wall oven. LOVE IT!!

Here’s to hoping I have a vintage home all my own to celebrate Christmas in. 😉

I like imagining all the Christmases these ornaments have seen already, as they continue in a new “reincarnated” form. The wreath/circle of life.
