New old stock Kohler bathtubs from the 1970s — Pink Champagne, Peachblow and more

pam kueber - Updated: August 10, 2021

Retro Renovation stopped publishing in 2021; these stories remain for historical information, as potential continued resources, and for archival purposes.

Eight New Old Stock Kohler bath tubs — some still their crates — up for grabs on craiglist. (update: link long gone.) I’m thinking — 1970s-ish models — because the range of colors — from Avocado and Harvest Gold to Pink Champagne — rare!, Fresh Green, Peachblow and that very common Suez Tan. Thanks to Ross for this TGIF tip!

Above: A Seaforth 5′ tub in Fresh Green (I think). I also think I may have two sinks to match this!

But wait: Another green. and indeed, the seller tells me there are two different greens plus the avocado. But:  The Kohler color timeline does not show such a variety of greens from the 60s-80s era. Hmmmm.

Thanks also to the seller for permission to post all the back to the future photos. The seller tells me:

We are an auction company. We sold out a local store that had been in business since the 60s  … These were part  of his stock.

Seems like there was a bidder, but then it didn’t work out.

I believe the tub in the foreground is Pink Champagne (lighting makes it look more lilac than pink), while the one at the far right is Peachblow.

Above: The Kohler Dynametric tub has been in the line a long, long time. I have one in my bathroom — installed 2003!

The stash is down in Arkansas. (update: link long gone.)

Our 1952 pink tub has no safety slip bottom…. that was a more recent add on…..check dates as to when these were added. Then, you will know how old these tubs are…..

When did Kohler stop calling themselves “Kohler of Kohler”? That would clue us in to the manufacturing date of some of these.

Chippy at World of Tile told me all about how they had their colorful bathtubs ground up because nobody wanted them. Heartbreaking! I’ve been looking for a Fresh Green toilet bowl for my glam bath, to no avail. I found a toilet but the bowl was cracked. I hope these tubs find good homes!

There are companies that will crate a distant item for you and ship it.

Pretty cool find, but wow the challenge of finding the sink and matching toilets. I guess with colors this bold you could almost use it as an accent piece or focus point with matching wallpaper, linens etc…
Heck, the way we go, there are probably 20 people who have been waiting for just this very thing. 🙂

Just a P.S. Finally got my beloved pink American Standard Gracelynn sink, vanity and matching toilet. Did hours of research. Saw a brochure on here that it’s called Venetian Pink. Can anyone verify for sure that it’s the ONLY shade of pink it came in? It’s a dusty rose soft pink, not cotton candy or peachy at all. Thanks if anyone is 100% on it..hunting wood toilet seats for her now. Sorry to get off topic a bit, but sooo excited about my Holy Grail find.

      Hey Lisa Campo,

I believe you are correct…American Standard’s pink is named Venetian Pink. My powder bath sink and commode in our 1958 MCM ranch in Dallas are Venetian Pink. Very soft pink. I found wooden toilet seats here in Dallas at Teter’s Plumbing Supply. In a nearly exact match on the pink, as well as Ming Green for Jack & Jill bath.

Must be the lighting or the photography; the colors appear as day-glow carnival-like on my monitor.

Agreed. But I lived in a house that had a full set of that blue. It was really that blue.

These are great. My parents have a bathroom with a similar blue. Me, I’ve always wanted to have a bathroom that’s mainly pink with avocado accents. These are a find for someone for sure!
