Lynn wanted a midcentury home, but her destiny was a new build. She still wanted a Mamie pink bathroom — so she made one of her own from scratch — with sassy pink poodles as her muse. And: I think her design idea for making use of precious wallpaper fragments is genius!
Hi Pam,
I would love to let you show my bathroom. I have been following you for 5 or 6 years. And you inspired me to midcenturyize our new-build home. I got so much help from your blog; I don’t think I could have done it without you!
I wanted a mid century home but we ended up buying a new build that looks like a turn of the century Florida home. I did not want to give up my mid century furniture so we decided it could be an old home in the 60’s that would have been updated over time.
I used your website to find tile, cabinet hardware, lighting, pink toilet and sink, and so many 0ther things. I spent months online looking for sources and ordering things. As a result, I have my pink poodle half bath and a blue Big Chill kitchen. Some rooms are a work in progress. Next I need to get rid of much of the off white paint and add more mid century color.
I forgot about the wall paper panels. I found the vintage poodle paper but there was not enough to do anything with 10-ft. high ceilings, so I put it in panels on each wall.
Thank you for your interest in my pink bathroom. It is a very happy room!
Thank you, Lynn! This makes me so very happy!

I love what you’ve done. As a Realtor, I see the remnants of Maimie pink bathrooms pretty often. Since I found Save The Pink Bathrooms through this site, I’m obsessed with getting perspective buyers who initially say “that has to go”, to realize what a gem they have. You done one better by putting a vintage room in a new home. I’d love to see your blue Big Chill kitchen too.

Do you mean “prospective”? And many thanks for fighting the “newer is always better” syndrome.

You have a great eye. No one could say this was not a bath from a mid century. Love ALL your choices, you will inspire others.

What a treat for the eyes. The whimsy quotient is off the scale! The new floor tile sink and fittings integrate beautifully. Obviously, a lot of hard work went into this gem. The panels are a brilliant idea. May I ask, what is the name of your lovely hue of pink? Great post, thank you!

What a darling little bathroom. Looks very authentic to the time period, and that idea is so smart when you just have a “little bit”. You could have just framed it up, but this adds so much more than a picture on the wall. I would like to see the rest of the house. And what is that grey box thing on the doorframe, is it some sort of lock?

Thank you. It’s an alarm to let you know if small children try to escape to the pool!

Oh my gosh, those wallpaper panels are adorable and genius! I love it!!

These panels are genius. I have also seen people frame bits of wallpaper and hand them like art. This is particularly good looking when the homeowner has saved a small remnant of the original wallpaper that had to be taken down because of damage or aging.
