Here’s what the sellers say in their listing — trust Tony, he knows a treasure when he sees it!
You may never have another opportunity to own such an AWESOME Vintage Kitchen Faucet Designed by Raymond Loewy for Elkay… Our volunteer Tony is a retired plumber and is absolutely in love with this one!
He carried it around forever, and I even caught him polishing it. We have not opened the box that it is attached to, but it comes as shown with the sprayer and original packaging. It’s a standard center 8″ mount and the spout is approx. 11″. This streamline faucet has amazing handles shaped like fins. Hot, Cold, and the Elkay are displayed as well. This is an outstanding piece! Don’t worry about Tony, we will let him pet it one more time before we ship it out to you.

Never a coincidence: My last story was about steel kitchen cabinets designed by Raymond Loewy! Thanks again, Habitat friends for letting us share this. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, and I’m serious: It deserves to go in a museum. Note, readers, old faucets like this may not be up to current codes — so if your goal is to install old stuff like this, get with a pro be safe/renovate safe to assess the situation so you can make informed decisions.
Hey, remember that time my gorgeousssssss Peter Muller-Munk pots went to the Carnegie Mellon Museum, and there was a party even. Good times.

Love this faucet. Wish they’d make them again. And on another note: check out the fabulous – and I mean it! – house at 115 lake shore road, Grosse pointe Farms Michigan. Built in 1953, original kitchen, great interior detail, a very large luxury home – advertised as a potential teardown – let’s hope not! (I’m not a realtor by the way but I look at houses all over the country for sale to find good and unusual design).
David Mondecar says
This is quite a side note but 115 Lake Shore Road as Ray mentioned does deserve a look see. 91 pictures of untouched property, except does have a new fridge : ) . Already sold though.

Serious bidders will need Bid Napper or Auction Sniper to snag this beauty for sure!

I will guess that it will go for $1,015.

Back in 1992, I renovated the kitchen in my co-op apartment and bought a brand new Elkay faucet that was almost the same as this from a plumbing supply showroom. It had to be an adaptation of the Loewy design. It had the same fins (what sold me), but no depression on the back or head of the “spout” part. It was over $400 then, but I had to have it. I took it when I sold the apartment in 2008 (installed a $30 faucet from Lowe’s) and it is wrapped up in a box until I have a new spot for it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Loewy faucet sells for $800 or more. I never regretted spending more on my faucet than my stove; it was like having a sculpture in the kitchen.

Great story! Up to $578 right now!
